Verbal communication plays a crucial role in social interaction. Similarities in speech rate have been shown to enhance confidence and foster interpersonal relationships (Buller et al., 1992). People tend to adjust their own speech rate to align with that of their conversation partners (Giles, 1991). Accurate perception of others’ speech rates is essential for this accommodation process. This study aims to investigate the relationship between the ability to judge others’ speech rates and individual differences in sensory temporal processing.
