From newspapers to TV talk shows, the growing problem of crystal meth (crystal methamphetamine) use has been identified as one that has a severe impact on communities, including Lethbridge.A recovering addict calls it "The Beast" and a CBC special on the growing problem of crystal meth was titled "Dark Crystal". Television commercials sponsored by Alberta Alcohol and Drug Abuse Commission (ADDAC) have graphically illustrated the negative effects of crystal meth use.When the Provincial health ministers gathered recently, ministers from the West pushed hard for a national strategy for dealing with this destructive and highly addictive and readily available drug. It can be smoked, ingested, injected, absorbed, and snorted, providing users with a multitude of "cheap" highs. What do we know about crystal meth? And what can we do as citizens to stop its abuse?The focus of the November 3 presentation is a look at the issues surrounding crystal meth, including the effects of the drug, some of the signs and symptoms exhibited by users, and the short and long term effects of crystal meth addictions. We'll hear about treatment options as well as prevention strategies.Speaker: Gwen ReimerGwen Reimer an addictions counselor with ADDAC in Lethbridge. Gwen has a BA in Psychology from the University of Lethbridge and a Bachelor of Social Work degree from the University of Calgary. She has worked in the addictions field for many years including 2 years at the Lander Treatment centre in Claresholm and now 9 years in Lethbridge. Gwen will speak about treatment options for this insidious addiction as well as some strategies that have been identified to prevent its use. According to the CDC’s own report, though, over a quarter (27%) of breakthrough infections were asymptomatic, and a further 61% were only mildly ill. Conversely, only 10% of them were ever hospitalised, and only 2% died:     Based on preliminary data, 2,725 (27%) vaccine breakthrough infections were asymptomatic, 995 (10%) patients were known  to be hospitalized, and 160 (2%) patients died. So, the CDC has taken their “substantial undercount”, and then slashed it by 90%. The official figures, moving forward, will be so inaccurate as to be completely useless. The CDC claims these changes “will help maximize the quality of the data collected on cases of greatest clinical and public health importance.” But that is an obvious and absurd lie. Statistical studies have shown up to 86% of Covid “cases” never experience symptoms. To exclude such cases from your vaccine effectiveness studies is to poison your data in order to prop up a pre-determined conclusion. It is, at the very best, extremely poor science. Of course, the truth is far more cynical even than that. From the beginning of the so-called “pandemic”, waves of asymptomatic “cases” were deliberately created by running unreliable PCR tests on 100,000s of perfectly healthy people every day. This paper examines the availability of soft drinks in schools ("pouring rights contracts") and its effects on the growing nutritional problems of American youth. Of special concern is the prevalence of overweight youth, which has been increasing at alarming rates. There has been a direct relationship found between soft drink consumption and overweight in youth. Soft drinks account for as much as 20% to 24% of the calories consumed by youth. Higher rates of soft drink consumption are seen in youth from lower socioeconomic backgrounds. School administrators play a negative role in the health of students when they allow commercialism (advertising and selling of products to students) in their schools. Soft drink companies have been at the forefront of commercialism in schools. These "pouring rights contracts" have helped encourage student addictions to high-calorie soft drinks, while at the same time making school administrators accustomed to the financial gains. Yet, many school administrators do not perceive pouring rights contracts as jeopardizing the health of students. Banning the sale of soft drinks on school campuses must be a higher priority for those concerned about the health of youth. (Contains 3 tables and 1 figure.)

The Little Mermaid" (Danish: Den lille havfrue, literally: "the little sea lady") is a very well known fairy tale by the Danish author Hans Christian Andersen about a young mermaid willing to give up her life in the sea and her identity as a mermaid to gain a human soul and the love of a human prince. The tale was first published in 1837 and has been adapted to various media including musical theatre and animated film. But this tale is not the Disney version, all cleaned up and made pretty. This is the way Andersen wrote it. The Little Mermaid is indeed at the happy wedding of her beloved prince, but she is not the bride. And then she becomes a big bubble. Curious? 16Emperor's New Clothes

This is a collection of a few of my personal favorite stories by Hans Christian Andersen that I most loved as a child and still enjoy as an adult. The Emperor's New Clothes was funny from my earliest years because even then I could see that it poked fun at adults and their silly pretensions; The Ugly Duckling I think, was enjoyable because the bullied little one turned out so well and it had a happy ending although I thought even as a child that the protagonist should have gone back and brought those mean barnyard fowl down a peg or two. Little Tiny or Thumbellina is just a sweet story with adventure thrown in and The Brave Little Tin Soldier was and is a tribute to bravery and steadfastness. The last story, There Is No Doubt About It ! was so obviously silly and fun even to a young child and frankly, I just love the way the animals talk in this story. (summary by the reader)

Um das Jahr 1860 herum veranstaltete Andersen eine deutsche Ausgabe seiner Märchen und Geschichten, die 112 derselben umfaßte, die viele Jahre in Deutschland als Gesamtausgabe galt. Aber erst im Jahre 1872 schrieb er sein letztes Märchen, so daß ihr die Märchen der letzten zwölf Jahre fehlen, sowie einige Märchen, die nicht mit aufgenommen waren. Zu der sogenannten Gesamtausgabe ist daher dieser Ergänzungsband, der die fehlenden 44 Märchen und Geschichten enthält, hinzugetreten. Dies ist also die einzige deutsche Gesamtausgabe, wenn man von seinen gesammelten Werken absieht, so daß allen Freunden Andersens endlich Gelegenheit gegeben ist, seine Hauptschöpfung im ganzen Umfange kennen zu lernen. An Kinder allein ist dabei nicht gedacht. Es gehört zu den Grundirrtümern über Andersen, daß man glaubt, er habe seine Märchen nur für Kinder geschrieben. Nur bis zum Jahre 1845 trugen seine kleinen Märchenhefte im Titel den Zusatz: »Für Kinder erzählt,« von der Zeit an nannte er die Erzählungen kurzweg: Märchen und Geschichten.
