1Wavelet Based Performance Analysis Of AC Transmission Systems With Unified Power Flow Controller Under Power Quality Issues

The developments in power quality are fast and difficult to predict. The majority of power quality issues experienced by industrial customers can be attributed to momentary interruptions, voltage sags or swells, transients, harmonic distortion, electrical noise, and flickering lights, among others. A new device may be invented tomorrow solving power quality problems. The FACTS devices could provide fast control of active and reactive power through a transmission line. The unified power-flow controller (UPFC) is a member of the FACTS family with very attractive features. This device can independently control many parameters, so it is the combination of the properties of a static synchronous compensator (STATCOM) and static synchronous series compensator (SSSC).The performance of AC Transmission system with Unified power flow controller under various power quality problems analysis described. The proposed system is formulated and research work is done by wavelet multi resolution analysis using Bior1.5 mother wavelet with MATLAB/SIMULINK software. It is observed that the effectiveness of AC power transmission through Unified power flow controller under power quality problems of sag, swell, transient, temporary faults and capacitive switching.

Due to the depletion of fossil fuels, coal, and oil, traditional electricity generation has a difficult task for utilities. A cheaper and more efficient method of doing this is required. A different source is required to fulfill the consumers power requirements. The alternate source should be sustainable and capable of meeting the consumers requirements. The integration of renewable energy into the grid is a useful way to fulfill demand. Renewable energy integration confronts three major problems frequency variation, power quality concerns, and power system instability. The following problems were of critical importance. An analytic hierarchy approach based expert system is utilized to identify and categorize power quality incidents. Before, it could sense things like sag, swell, transients, harmonics, interrupts, and flickers. An error free event classification system has been suggested. Simplified procedure allows for improved detection and categorization of power quality incidents. an investigation of power quality incidents and their mitigation using unified power quality conditioners UPQC An Adaptive Neuro Fuzzy Inference System ANFIS is used to minimize various power quality issues. Integrating renewable energy sources efficiently minimizes the environmental impact. The suggested method provides a solution to voltage unbalances and lowers overall harmonic distortion at the point of common coupling PCC . The addition of an ANFIS controlled DVR is used to reduce voltage irregularities caused by integrating renewable energy sources and faults in the transmission line. An artificial fault was added to power quality events with the goal of making use of renewable energy. To minimize the adverse effects of power quality incidents, the ANFIS controlled DVR proposal is in place. ANFIS controlled DVR is contrasted to a traditional technique of surveillance. Distributed static compensator D STATCOM is used to prevent voltage flickers, and total harmonic distortion, caused by nonlinear loads. D STATCOM is suggested to use three control methods Instantaneous power theory, Synchronous vector PI Control, and Harmonic elimination. Under extreme load circumstances, the D efficacy STATCOMs is evaluated. The suggested expert system and the bespoke power devices will be analyzed and discussed using various control techniques. Electrical Power quality is used to determine the health of the electrical power system that connects the consumer’s devices. It is concerned with voltage quality, current quality, reliability of service, quality of power supply etc. Actually the power quality refers to maintaining the sinusoidal waveform of power distribution bus voltage at rated voltage magnitude and frequency. Voltage flicker and harmonics are the main types of power quality problems that are very common to the power system containing electric arc furnace (EAF). Utilities connecting electrical arc furnaces are highly concerned regarding these disturbances and try as far as possible to minimize them. In this paper, EAF is presented for the study of power quality problems and their mitigation. Analysis regarding power quality indices related to both AC and DC type arc furnace has been presented.

World transportation is in an electrified mass transitional phase due to the predominant features such as a greener environment, fewer maintenance requirements, improved reliability and energy management efficiency compared to conventional transportation. Numerous difficulties have emerged since electric vehicle sales hit record highs, including how electrified transportation works with the grid. Emerging innovations and technological advances in the field of artificial intelligence have led to the development of enhanced controllers for electric vehicle penetration with the grid. This work includes information on the integration of artificial intelligence strategies used for the mitigation of power quality issues. By merging artificial intelligence techniques into the grid, users can achieve efficient energy use and beneficial power interactions between the grid and electric vehicles. To assess the network's practicality, this research develops a charging model that uses a Tasmanian Devil optimization (TDO) algorithm based on MATLAB software. According to research, TDO improves the waveform quality by reducing the THD with better performance and achieves efficient power transfer between the grid and EVs.

9Series Active Power Filter Supplied By Fuel Cell For Mitigating Power Quality Issues

In this paper, the combination of the series active power filter (SAPF) with a fuel cell (FC) source is deliberated. The FC based on the SAPF aims to compensate voltage deviations or disturbances that occur in the system caused by power quality issues. The proposed system consists of a fuel cell source connected to the DC l ink through two DC-DC converters, the first extracts the maximum power of the FC source through pulse width modulation (PWM) signals generated from the maximum power point tracker (MPPT) controller. Thus, the second converter is used to regulate the high voltage side of the converter through closed control loops, in addition to a voltage source inverter (VSI) and a series injection transformer. Despite of fluctuations of the DC link during the compensation of the needed energy, MPPT and closed control loops generate PWM signals to the switching devices of DC-DC boost converters in order to extract maximum fuel cell power and to maintain the bus voltage within its limits and around its reference values respectively. The proposed topology is simulated in MATLAB/Simulink software, where simulation results show that the proposed FC based SAPF can efficiently reduce problems of voltage sags-wells and harmonics.

Electric vehicles (EV) penetration in the distribution systems is evident and intended to grow day by day. Power quality issues pop up in the distribution system with an increase in EV penetration. Distribution networks need to consider the power quality issues developed due to the penetration of EVs for planning and designing the system. The power quality issues, including voltage imbalance, total harmonic distortion, distribution transformer failure, and related issues, are anticipated due to EV penetration in distribution systems. Detailed review of power quality issues and mitigation techniques are detailed in this paper. Discussion on the effect of these power quality issues on the distribution systems and corresponding mitigation measures are detailed. Power quality impact mitigation techniques have been discussed recently, which exploits the bidirectional power flow of vehicle to grid vehicle to grid (V2G) and grid to vehicle grid-to-vehicle (G2V). Methods and methodologies that mitigate power quality problems in the EV penetrated distribution system is discussed. Bidirectional power flow during EV charging and discharging and power quality issues in this topology is detailed in this review paper. A discussion on future trends and different possible future research paradigms is discussed as the review's conclusion.
