This podcast features an interview with Leesa Potts, a teacher at the Arkansas Department of Education's Distance Learning Center (DLC) in Maumelle, Arkansas, just outside Little Rock. At the DLC, teachers teach high school students around the state every day using a blended combination of videoconferencing technologies and computer software programs. SameTime software permits students and teachers to synchronously see the same content on their computer screens and collaboratively work together. Think about an overhead projector which shows its image on every student's desk, and permits every student to also write or type on the projected image, and you'll have an idea about what the interaction is like in this environment. This podcast is a recording of the last tweleve minutes of a presentation I shared today at the Oklahoma Technology Association's 2007 conference titled "The Case for 1:1 Computing and School 2.0." I should have cut some slides and content from this presentation from the "draft" version I posted last week and I did not! So, this is the last part of the presentation which focuses on the characteristics which should define "School 2.0" or a reinvention of our K-12 educational system. I am sharing this presentation again in Austin at TCEA on tomorrow, and (assuming things turn out ok) I'll publish that version of the presentation which just focuses on the case for 1:1 learning. I've deleted about 21 slides from my preso and the section on School 2.0 for tomorrow's version, so hopefully people interested in those ideas will check out this podcast! I hope to write down some of those ideas in an article in upcoming months. These ideas are very much in development, so if you have feedback, critiques and suggestions I'd love to hear them!

1Esperanto Teacher

The international language Esperanto was first released to the world in 1887, when L. L. Zamenhof published his first book, "Dr. Esperanto's International Language". Since that time, many learning books have been developed to help the beginner attain a proficiency in the language. Helen Fryer's "Esperanto Teacher" is one of the earliest of these attempts in English. Divided into 45 short and easy lessons and supplemented with sections on joining words, exclamations, compound words, arrangement of words in a sentence, words used with the object, the 16 rules of grammar and list of common useful expressions, as well as a number of translated texts for the new Esperantist to practice his/her skills, this book contains everything one needs to gain a proficiency in the language.

Mary Frances is a little girl whose Aunt Maria intends to teach her to knit and crochet, but she's very strict and demanding.
