5ERIC ED627536: Talent On The Move: Listening To Children And Young People On The Move To Unlock Their Potential
By ERIC
There are an estimated 281 million international migrants. One in five is a young person and 36 million are children. Worldwide, more than 4 out of 10 forcibly displaced persons are younger than 18, with 33 million children living in forced displacement at the end of 2019 -- either as internally displaced persons within their country or abroad as refugees or asylum seekers. Young migrants, refugees and internally displaced persons (IDPs) across continents represent a unique, untapped pool of talent, ideas, and entrepreneurship. Often resilient, motivated and with experience in overcoming adversity, they have the potential to help solve some of our greatest challenges. Powered by the voices of youth, this report harnesses the technology of U-Report to ask 8,764 young people on the move, aged between 14 and 24, if they felt heard and invited them to share their aspirations to learn and earn. According to this poll, nearly 40 per cent of young people on the move identify education and training as their biggest priorities, and 30 per cent prioritized looking for a job. As the examples in this report highlight, young people on the move are a force for success. But only by creating incentives and opportunities for them to fulfil their aspirations can we turn their passions, energy and hopes into something productive and empowering.

11Climate Change, Disasters And People On The Move - Providing Protection Under International Law
Climate change is forcing us to consider the right of people to leave their disappearing homelands, and the shape this right should take. Climate Change, Disasters and People on the Move proposes international protection as a solution with three pillars: granting protection against return to the country of origin (non-refoulement); preventing future displacement; and facilitating safe, orderly, and regular migration in the context of disasters and climate change. Dr. Aylin Yildiz Noorda uses the theories of common concern of humankind and community interests to operationalise her proposal, providing a blueprint for future claims.

Three M!ssles Targeted The House Across The Street, Which Caused Our Whole Street To Destroy As Well As The House On Top Of Our Heads. I Saw De.ath That Night And I Can Tell You It Was Not Fun At All. I Don’t Really Wanna Talk About It Much Because Even Just Watching The Video And Remembering That Night Makes Me Cry, I Just Wanted To Share This With You Guys. Here Is A Longer Version Of My Story… Well, On The First Night As We Were Trying To Sleep Normally—I Had A Feeling Something Bad Was Gonna Happen To Us, The Israelis Threw Many Nearby Missiles That Were Very Scary And Awoke Me And My Family Then They Threw Another 3, But This Time They Were So Close To Our House—10 Ft Away Or So, They Destroyed Our House On Top Of Our Heads, We Literally Had To Move Bricks And Stuff From On Top Of Our Heads And Then Went Running In The Street Trying To Go Somewhere Safer. I Can’t Even Describe How Awful The Scene Was. I Am Literally Crying Right Now As I Am Writing This And Remembering How Horrible It Was. To Describe It Quickly It Looked Like Call Of Duty, It Looked Like A Video Game. All I Could See Was Smoke From The Bombing. What I Heard Was Really Sad And Scary In A Way, All I Could Hear Was Kids Crying, Moms Screaming, And A Siren Sound Going Off. There Was No Oxygen To Breath, It Was All Smoke And Some Bad Smells. Luckily We Made It Past That Night All Alive With Only Some Light Injuries. We Then Stayed At An UNRWA School (supposedly A Safe Shelter, Yet In That Same Night They Had Bombed An UNRWA School) For The Next Week, Life Was Really Hard! Harder Than You Can Imagine! 51 People In One Room! Imagine!! If You Look At Us While Asleep We Would Look Like Canned Sardines. They Had Cut All Supplies (water, Food, Electricity, Internet, Etc) But We Had Some Electricity Because It Was Generated By Solar Panels, Anyways, A Week Later They Threw Papers From The Sky Saying That We Have To Evacuate To The Southern Parts Of Gaza Strip Because They Are Going To Be “safe”. It Was So Hard Finding A Car To Take Us To The South And We Needed More Than 5 Cars. Lucky Thank God We Found Cars At The End And We Headed To The South. The Trip To The South Was The Scariest Trip Of My Life. It Literally Crashed Me Internally. They Said It Would Be Safe To Go To The South But Literally Bombed And Killed More Than 150 People On Their Way To The South. Oct. 8th 12:50 am This video is from the first night of this genoc!de, which is probably the worst night of my life. you can feel the terror in my mom’s and sister’s voices. The attacks were right at the end of the street but that wasn’t the worst part. The moment I turned off the camera is when it all started going downhill. We made it safely to the south after all and some strangers offered us an apartment they have to stay in. And now it has been more than10 mothes in the south and litrally living helI on earth

We made it safely to the south after all and some strangers offered us an apartment they have to stay in. And now it has been more than10 mothes in the south and litrally living helI on earth

27ERIC ED416263: Haitians: A People On The Move. Haitian Cultural Heritage Resource Guide.
By ERIC
This cultural heritage resource guide has been prepared as a tool for teachers to help them understand the cultural heritage of their Haitian students, their families, and their communities in order to serve them better. Although Haiti became an independent country in 1804, the struggle of its people for justice and freedom has never ended. Many Haitians have left Haiti for political, social, and economic reasons, and many have come to the larger cities of the United States, particularly New York City. This guide contains the following sections: (1) "Introduction"; (2) "Haiti at a Glance"; (3) "In Search of a Better Life"; (4) "Haitian History"; (5) "Haitian Culture"; (6) "Images of Haiti"; and (7) "Bibliography," a 23-item list of works for further reading. 28People Move Outdoors On The Warmest Day Of The Year So Far
By NWCTV
Friday will go down in the books as a top day to be outdoors. Combine the summer like temperatures with Cinco de Mayo and you get patio perfection. "We've got high tops, low tops, and we can put tables together," said Jolene Rood with Roasted Pear in Brooklyn Park. "I came in early today because I knew it was going to be a beautiful day, I want to make sure the patio is ready to go, because we live in Minnesota and we only get so much of this." "We're from Champaign, Illinois and this is where we usually like come eat and hang out," said Roasted Pear customer Jeff Sebens. And everything is marvelous at the Maple Tavern, in Maple Grove, food, sun and fun. "We've got lots of tables, you can come with a whole group of your friends, you can get our full menu outside, lot of really good drinks," said General Manager Ashley Hauf. The quaint patio and an outdoor volleyball court, make this a perfect spot to enjoy a meal out on the patio. "This is our first time. We like that it's open, lots of sunshine, lots of shade, love it," said Maple Tavern customer Stacy Glass. Over in Plymouth, The Sunshine Factory is known for it's beautiful patio space, and there were many people out enjoying it. With a full bar, 21 tables, two televisions and a fire pit, what's not to love? "It's beautiful. You've got the option of sun or shade depending on what you want to do, depending how warm it is," said Sunshine Factory customer Myron Yatckoske. And while the customers come for the food and beverages, it's the weather that's tops on everyone's order. "It's nice being outside for the first time this year, eating outside being with the family and friends. It's good, said Sunshine Factory customer Jeff Cogswell. 31Top 10 Online Businesses For On-the-Move People - SB005
By Small Biz 101 Podcast
[shortcode-variables slug=\"subscribe\"] Find the Right Biz for You Series (Part 5) One statement I hear often is: \"I want to start a business but I'm not sure what I want that business to be\". If you have that same feeling, you are in the right place. With these first several episodes of this podcast, I am walking you through this process of discovery to help you find the ideal small business for you. In Episode 001, we discussed the importance of conducting a self-assessment (and how to do so). In Episode 003, I talked about the various business styles, how to generate business ideas and gave you some tools to help you determine your own ideal business. Along the way, in Episodes 002 and 004, you heard interviews with people either reinforcing the discussed concepts or sharing their own experiences. If you haven't heard these yet, I encourage you to go back and check these episodes out. Wouldn't it be great to make 2017 the Year of Your New Business? In this episode, I am providing my top 10 list of online businesses for people on the move. I created this list initially as a blog post for Sisters in Sports, an online community for wives of professional athletes and college/professional coaches. I am the wife of a college basketball coach and, in the last five years, have lived in five different homes in three different states as a result of my husband's job. I've loved every (almost) minute of this adventure, but also found it took its toll on my work. There are many other wives/partners in athletics in the same boat - maybe in jobs they couldn't keep or having their own businesses they could not maintain. Although we hear regularly about professional athletes and big time coaches making six or seven figure incomes, the reality is these people make up a minuscule percentage of this workforce. As a result, it is still important for most partners to contribute to the household income. As I was creating this list, I started thinking about how these businesses apply to many more people outside the athletics world. These work for anyone who is on the move - military spouses, for example - or anyone who likes to travel and wants to take his or her own business with them. These are proven, profitable online entrepreneurial ideas that allow you to be your own boss and work on your own time. The Top 10 Online Businesses for On-the-Move People 1. Virtual Assistant Most virtual assistants work on a freelance basis, performing many, if not all, of the functions of an executive assistant: • Preparing attractive presentation materials • Formatting business correspondence, contracts, and proposals • E-mail management • Travel arrangements • Managing social correspondence This work may be performed from the comfort of your home with just a computer. Non-urgent work usually may be performed on your own schedule. If you move, it makes no difference to your clients. You may begin developing this business immediately by: • Reaching out to people you already know who may be in need of this assistance or who may know of someone else who could use this type of help. • Working for someone else who runs his or her own virtual assistance service. Typically, these businesses have clients already or have inquiries coming to them regularly so they need skilled, reliable people to do the work. • Sign up to perform work as a freelancer under an online service such as Upwork, Freelancer, or Thumbtack. 2. Graphic Designer Are you skilled at designing or creating: • Logos and brand identity products? • Business and advertising products such as: brochures, business cards, postcards, website and social media banners? • Graphic designs for clothing and merchandise, such as mugs, hats, and t-shirts? • Book or magazine illustrations, invitations, and greeting cards? • Labels for beverage, food, or retail packaging? Use those skills online, from wherever you are and whenever works for you. Like virtual assistants, you may hang out your own online shingle or go to work for an already established online service such as 99 Designs or Fiverr. These provide great ways to fine-tune your skills and begin receiving testimonials that will lead to more, higher paying work. 3. Bookkeeping Do you love to work with numbers, charts, and spreadsheets? Are you the person who has to balance their checkbook to the penny? Online bookkeeping may be right up your alley, especially for small business owners abhor this these types f tasks! Knowledge of accounting software such as Quickbooks, Freshbooks, Sage, and Zoho is important to have or to be able to learn quickly. 4. Website or App Design Even if you do not already have web or app development skills, but think you would enjoy doing this type of work, there are several online programs to help you learn and get you started in business such as Skillcrush and General Assembly. 5. Online courses or eBooks If you are an expert at something, people likely would be willing to pay to learn from you. There are several resources for learning to create these online products. My favorite is Flipped Lifestyle. You'll learn valuable tips and resources just from reading the blog or listening to their podcast. 6. Social Media Marketing Do you have a difficult time pulling yourself away from Twitter, Facebook, Pinterest, or Instagram? Have you noticed how prevalent advertisements for businesses and organizations have become on these sites? Many small businesses and non-profits are looking for people who have the time and ability to create and execute their social media marketing campaigns. 7. Online Reselling I recently found a treasure trove of posters and basketballs signed by famous professional athletes in our basement. These go back to the days when my husband use to run camps for these athletes and would end up with more signed products than he knew what to do with. With my husband's OK, I posted a number of these pieces online at eBay, sold them all within two weeks, pocketing enough income to pay for our Christmas gifts and travel. Online services such as eBay and Amazon reselling are terrific for selling gently used or collectable products. Many individuals have created a business from this. There also are apps for selling locally, similar to Craigslist, but a bit safer with a verification process. I've been using LetGo to great success. Facebook Marketplace is another local online resale outlet to check out. You would be amazed at the number of people who have developed their own profitable business by reselling their own goods and products they've found at garage or estate sales. 8. Etsy Sales Speaking of online selling - if you have a talent for creating handmade goods from pillows to hats to candles, even furniture, Etsy is the world's largest independent marketplace for selling your products. Visit the website to get an idea of the wide variety of products offered by people there. 9. Freelance Proofreading and Editing Are you one of those people driven crazy by misspelled words or poor grammar when reading books, articles, or advertising materials? This may be the perfect income-generating online business for you. An excellent resource for learning the ins and outs of starting and growing this type of business is the Copywriting and Editing for Dummies book. In fact, when researching any of these businesses, check to see if there is a related \"for Dummies\" guide. These books are written by top experts in their fields. The content is presented in a fun and easily digestible way. 10. Online Translation and Transcription Service You may have lived in more than one country and learned more than one language. Have you considered using those language skills to assist others? There is a growing need for this type of work by all sizes and types of businesses, government entities and non-profit organizations. Services such as One Hour Translation and Gengo can get you up and running almost immediately as one of their translator/transcribers. * * * * * Put this information to work for you. Check out some of these ideas if you see one or more that appeals to you. If you would like more information about how to find your ideal small business, please help yourself to a free copy of my eBook: \"Passion to Prosperity: Finding Your Ideal Side Business\". Although it was written with side businesses in mind, the process for determining your own small business is very much the same. 33It's A Jetsons World (Chapter 9: The People On The Move) By Jeffrey A. Tucker
By LibertyInOurTime
We are surrounded by miracles created in the private sector, particularly in the digital universe, and yet we don't appreciate them enough. Meanwhile, the public sector is systematically wrecking the physical world in sneaky and petty ways that really do matter. Jeffrey A. Tucker points out that the products of digital capitalism are amazing, astounding, beyond belief—more outrageously advanced than anything the makers of the Jetsons could even imagine. The borders, the limits, the barriers—they are all being blasted away. http://mises.org Playlist link for complete audio presentation: http://tinyurl.com/y4qrasg2 Full text of "It's a Jetsons World: Private Miracles and Public Crimes" available online: PDF version: http://tinyurl.com/wvq5vdk EPUB version: http://tinyurl.com/vfoma3l Links to more online writings by Jeffrey Tucker: Bourbon for Breakfast: Living Outside the Statist Quo http://tinyurl.com/y5yc3sp7 Audio version: http://tinyurl.com/y4vjqabc Right-Wing Collectivism: The Other Treat to Liberty http://tinyurl.com/yy6totz6 Beauty and Truth: Frank and Friendly Conversations on Being Human http://tinyurl.com/y4ksg2cv A Beautiful Anarchy http://tinyurl.com/y4kx6c7w Bit by Bit: How Peer-to-Peer Technology Is Freeing the World http://tinyurl.com/y4cxn92v Freedom Is a Do-It-Yourself Project http://tinyurl.com/y2ce73zp It's Not Just Socialists We Need to Worry About http://tinyurl.com/y47va6cb This Bloodsport Needs to End http://tinyurl.com/y5ncuat4 Of Course the Alt-Right Is Against Capitalism http://tinyurl.com/yyohz4d4 Not Every Tragedy Has a Political Solution http://tinyurl.com/y6aseew9 Right-Wing Collectivism Is the Other Threat to Liberty http://tinyurl.com/ya26jqh7 A Rogues Gallery of Right-Hegelians http://tinyurl.com/yynf6x6u Nine Books to Understand the Collectivist Right http://tinyurl.com/y3ehyuhv Should an Armed Nazi Horde Be Permitted to Invade Your Town? http://tinyurl.com/y5vfgz3p Five Ways the Charlottesville Marches Backfired http://tinyurl.com/y3cfscml The Violence in Charlottesville http://tinyurl.com/y9sg8p9x The Brooding Baron of 20th-Century Fascism http://tinyurl.com/y3wrrq8m The West Is a Portable Idea, Not Blood and Soil http://tinyurl.com/y45jyuh5 Five Forgotten Champions of Fascist Control http://tinyurl.com/y2du9gcv The Prehistory of the Alt-right http://tinyurl.com/yyjuxtld Fascism Is Not Just an Epithet. 43ERIC ED269189: South Dakotans On The Move: Characteristics Of People Leaving And Entering The State, 1970 To 1980. Update Series C229, No. 14.
By ERIC
Based primarily on 1980 census data, the bulletin presents five sets of tables which describe changes in population which have occurred in South Dakota as a result of migration into and out of the state. Table 1 provides state of origin/destination, rank, number, and percentage data on migration into and out of South Dakota from 1975-80. Figures indicate 69,514 persons moved to the state and 90,019 moved out of the state during this period, with Minnesota being the leading state of both origin and destination. Table 2 shows the age, number, and rate of net migration for South Dakota from 1960-70 and 1970-80. For both decades, statistics indicate that the highest rate of migration occurred among 25-29 year-olds leaving the state. Table 3 contains net migration figures for South Dakota by age and sex for 1970-80. Table 4 presents numbers and rates of population change by county from 1970-80, revealing that 13 of 66 counties experienced increases in population ranging from 1.7% to 23.7%, while the remaining 53 counties witnessed population decreases ranging from 1.5% to 28.5%. Table 5 enumerates numbers and rates of net migration by age group and sex for each South Dakota county from 1970-80. (NEC)
