A Palestinian girl last week posted a statement that exposed the FREE PALESTINE Movement for what it truly is. The true face of Palestine and the ugly Pro-Palestinian and Hamas rallies around the world are now bared for all to see. While Israel fights Hamas in Gaza, the United States is meeting with the head of the Palestinian Authority promising to help them establish another Gaza-like State that would threaten the State of Israel. All this and more on today's show!

This week we finish the last semester of the tour guide program at the Bethlehem Bible College.  With twenty Palestinian students I have been studying for two years to get the tour guide diploma. This diploma will allow us to apply for the exam of the Palestinian Ministry of Tourism. If we pass that exam then we will become licensed tour guides.In this episode you can listen to our program manager and teacher Haytham Dieck and ten of the tour guides students who are graduating from the Bible College.  They tell you about their favorite places to visit in Palestine and their passion for the history and heritage of their country. Most of the conversations with the students were recorded during a walk around Bethlehem. We hope that soon it will be possible again for individual tourists to come and visit Palestine. Dr. Daniel Hummel is a Scholar, writer, researcher, and teacher of religion, politics, and foreign policy in the United States and the modern Middle East. He is currently a Robert M. Dr. Hummel is also a specialist in the concept of Christian Zionism and has a forthcoming book from the University of Pennsylvania Press entitled, \"A Covenant of the Mind: Evangelicals, Israel, and the Construction of a Special Relationship.\" Dr. Hummel's unique take on the Israel-Palestine situation is tinted with his own expertise in Christian Zionism, and we discuss that issue in a lot of depth in this conversation as well. Yet more violence in Israel and Palestine. There have been multiple incidents of mob attacks between Jews and Arabs in towns in Israel with mixed populations between Palestinian citizens of Israel and Jews. The threat of widespread communal violence is acute.To discuss the events leading up to this crisis and explain where it may be headed next is Dana el-Kurd, assistant professor at the Doha Institute for Graduate Studies and a researcher at the Arab Institute for Research and Policy Studies.

This week a lot of things happened and shifted in Palestine. It started with the Israeli restrictions imposed on Palestinians in Jerusalem during the month of Ramadan. In the same time there were protests to support the Palestinian families in the Sheikh Jarrah neighborhood who are threatened to be evicted from their homes by settler organizations supported by the Israeli forces. The Israeli forces also attacked the worshipers at the Aqsa mosque and for several days they used full force and a lot of violence to remove the people from the Aqsa compound. Then the resistance in the Gazastrip responded with rockets. And Israel started bombing the Gaza strip. In the meantime inside the 48 lands (the current State of Israel) the Palestinians were protesting and the response by the Israeli forces was to use a lot of violence. Another scary development is that mobs of Israeli settlers started roaming the cities of Palestinians inside 48 lands and marking the houses of Palestinians and attacking them on the streets and in their homes. Apo Sahagian is a singer and works in different artistic related projects in Jerusalem. He is also the host of the podcast 'Apo and the city'. He grew up in the old city of Jerusalem in the Armenian quarter. His family came to Jerusalem in the 1920s when many Armenians fled from the genocide committed by the Ottoman empire. In this episode Apo gives us more insight into the Armenian community in Palestine. The Armenians came in three waves. As the first Christian nation in the world, King Tiridates III adopted Christianity as state religion in 301 AD, they have a long history of connection to Jerusalem. The first Crusaders married Armenian princesses and there are several Crusader Queens of Jerusalem that were of Armenian descent, such as the famous queen Melisande. So the first wave dates back from that time, the 12th century AD. These Armenians have integrated into the Palestinians society and even though they cherish their heritage they are much more assimilated than the second wave.The second wave is the result of displacement during the Ottoman time and these Armenians are still much more connected to the homeland and as diaspora Armenians they are trying to preserve their culture and heritage and they have stronger connections to Armenia.The third wave consists of Armenians who came to Israel in the time that many Russians were accepted as Jews to the live in Israel. Some of these Armenians are not even really Jewish but they took the opportunity to try have a better economic life. In recent weeks, the depressing European political discourse on Gaza - and more generally, on the right of Palestinians to self-determination - has cast a few rays of light onto a dismal situation.⁠ ⁠ France, followed by the UK and Canada, formally announced its intentions to fully recognise a Palestinian state next month. ⁠ ⁠ The first two countries share the biggest historical responsibility for the mayhem endured by the Middle East and its people after the tragic decisions they took a century ago: from the 1916 Sykes-Picot Agreement, to the 1917 Balfour Declaration, to the 1919 Treaty of Versailles and its fallout.⁠ ⁠ If [they] follow through on their vow to recognise Palestine when the UN General Assembly meets next month, it is difficult to say whether this long-delayed act of justice would improve their respective political standings.⁠ ⁠ Macron, whose approval ratings are low and who has little to show for his historical legacy, might be hoping to boost his popularity among the country’s large and vocal Muslim minority. Keir Starmer is also dealing with plummeting support for the Labour Party - so much so that roughly 18 percent of Britons would consider voting for a new party led by former leader Jeremy Corbyn.⁠ ⁠ If his clumsy intent was to make everyone happy, Starmer may find it has the opposite effect. Powerful pro-Israel lobbying groups in the UK will not forgive him, while the growing pro-Palestinian movement will see it for what it is: a disastrously packaged gesture.⁠ ⁠ Israel’s far-right finance minister, Bezalel Smotrich, has said as much. He responded by telling the BBC: “It’s not going to happen. There will be no state to recognise.”⁠ ⁠ Indeed, the US and Israel do not consider the recognition of a Palestinian state to be a long-overdue act of justice that fulfills the Palestinian people’s inalienable right to self-determination. Rather, it is nothing more than a bargaining chip - and Israel must always have the last word”⁠

On a sunny day in January 2021 we visit the Palestine Museum of Natural History in Bethlehem. We speak to the founder Mazin Qumsieh and his wife Jessie Chang and we take a tour around the ethnography museum and the garden.  This is where the Palestine Institute for Biodiversity is teaching children AND adults about the rich flora and fauna of Palestine. Palestine is located between Europe, Asia and Africa with an area of 27000 km2 in the western part of the Fertile Crescent where humans first developed agriculture. The unique geography and geology gave Palestine more biological diversity than some countries ten times its size.The museum has a section with fossils and stuffed animals. There are also several animals that are being rehabilitated before they are released back into the wild. The museum demonstrates methods for cultivation, composting, recycling and upcycling.
