The Astro*Intelligence computer program created by Liz Greene and Alois Treindl reliably generates outputs promoted as "Analysis of the Personality, based on Astrology and Psychology" using only the subject's gender and his or her time, date, and location of birth as customizing inputs. If given more than one such output from the program with potentially identifying information redacted (such as dates or names of astrological signs), what is the likelihood that a given subject will identify a profile generated from the spatiotemporal coordinates of his or her birth as his or her own?

The author of this article describes the various aspects of her job as the Modern Language Tutor Coordinator at Santa Monica College. The author writes that, in general, her days consist of wearing a number of different hats each day, including that of budget and payroll administrator, grant writer, tutor screener, tutor trainer, tutor employer, tutor coordinator, tutor, psychological counselor, mediator, computer trouble-shooter, researcher, writer of recommendations, friend, and surrogate parent. The author describes the multitude of duties and tasks that beset her everyday in each of these fifteen job roles. This article presents a description of Santa Monica College, which reflects the international atmosphere in Southern California in its language offerings. It also gives a description of the college's Modern Language Tutoring Center, the services it offers, and the limitations it occasionally faces when the Center gets extremely crowded with tutees and not enough tutors. The author asserts that the job of tutor coordinator necessitates prime people skills. She believes tutor coordinators to be the most social of all social animals, as helping people is their job. Personality traits are consistently connected to mental health problems across the lifespan, but previous research has primarily focused on estimating and describing these associations as opposed to uncovering how and why they come about. The present study aims to test multiple theoretical models of personality—psychopathology associations, focusing on more narrowly defined lower-order personality traits (or facets), across the middle childhood to early adolescent developmental transition, including 1) whether personality traits serve as vulnerability factors for the development of future psychopathology (predisposition/vulnerability model), 2) whether personality traits may influence the manifestation or course of psychopathology (pathoplasty/exacerbation model), 3) whether the experience of psychopathology may influence subsequent personality levels (scar model), and 4) whether the experience of psychopathology influences the future course of personality development (stagnation model). We will also test 5) whether personality and psychopathology develop in tandem and show within-time overlap after controlling for all other explanatory models (spectrum/continuity model), however, it should be noted that the present study design is not optimally positioned to provide strong evidence for a spectrum/continuity model. Rather, we will examine several necessary, but not sufficient observations that would be expected under a spectrum or continuity model (e.g., correlated change). Additionally, we hope to examine the relative utility of personality facets (vs. Five Factor Model domains) in predicting psychopathology development. We aim to see whether lower-order facets may offer unique information about the development of internalizing and externalizing psychopathology relative to personality domains in the preadolescent period. Therefore, we will examine relationships between both Five Factor Model personality domains and facets and internalizing/externalizing psychopathology.

Decades of research support that people behave differently in different situations. The focus of this research was on advancing the measurement of personality by more careful of consideration of situations. Specifically, this research proposed and evaluated a methodology for assessing multiple components of individuals' expression of their personality traits. These components include elements of personality that are stable across situations and those that vary depending on the particular situation that a person confronts. Historically, most of what the field of psychology knows about links between personality and valued outcomes such as job performance and employee turnover, are based on measures of personality that focus solely on the stable part of trait expression. As such, this research offers the potential to inform the development of personality measures that offer increased potential for predicting outcomes of interest to the Army and other organizations.

The present study will replicate and then cross-validate the findings of Condon and colleagues (2015) with new Synthetic Aperture Personality Assessment (https://sapa-project.org; SAPA) data to evaluate if such associations between sense of direction and higher order personality factors generalize across samples. Additionally, we will examine how 3D rotation, another kind of spatial ability, relates to higher order personality factors and cross-validate our findings. To illustrate a more detailed and specific picture of what specific aspects of personality are driving the associations with sense of direction and 3D rotation, we will examine how interstitial personality facets (SAPA Personality Inventory 27 Facets (SPI-27); Condon, 2018) as well as personality nuances (SAPA Personality Inventory 135 Items (SPI-135) & SAPA Personality Nuances; Condon, 2018) relate to sense of direction and 3D rotation, and then cross validate our findings on a holdout sample to ensure generalizability. Because individual interests are another important component of personality (Revelle et al., 2011), we will also examine how college major and job field relate to 3D rotation and sense of direction.
