A mosquito net for the VW California that is mush easier to both store and mount than the original one supplied with the camper. Easily fits e.g. up against one of the sides in the drawer under the bench. No need to be flat on the bottom - under everything else in the drawer. Easy to mount in the window. Just slide the window open, insert the net against the alu. profile behind the driver seat and slide the window to the last lockable position. Done! In the current form it is not 100% mosquito proof, as there is a gap between the net and the window, see the pictures. I guess that it would be possible to stick a rubber strip on it for a tighter seal. A fair amount of assembly / gluing is required. The files only contain one of each part, but some of them are required in multiple copies: 4x Connector "bone" 2x Rear "stop block" (the ones with a platoeu at half height) 3x Front "stop block" 2x Top/bottom part of the inner frame See picture. Assembly instructions. I used glue clamps, just be careful to not glue them to the frame. 1) Assemble the outer / main frame, using the bones. I glued in the bones and also put glue generally in the gaps between the parts. Now it is already possible to test fit the frame in the window. The "stop block" can just about stay in place without glue. Do not glue them until the last step! Just use some blue tack if they need a bit of extra support. 2) Place the inner frame on top of a suitable net and mark, cut the net to size. 3) Fest-fit net and inner frame in the outer frame. I had to trim the ends of the inner frames slightly to make it all fit. 4) Fit the net in the outer frame, add glue, add inner frame on top. It is not necessary to glue it all at once. The inner frame is flexible enough that one end can be lifted for adding glue, even after the other end has already been glued in place. 5) When the entire frame is assembled the "stop blocks" can be glued in the notches / on the frame. Unfortunately I don't have many pictures of the fully assembled unit. The test fits in several of the picture are obviously without the net :)

Star may need minor sanding but should push fit into the space tightly and not need anything else to secure it.

I have designed a new handle for my broken one on the bugs net frame. It is much more resistant from mechanical point of view. The distance between holes is 31 mm (there are a lot of variants on the market, but I needed something with exactly the same dimensions as the old one). I recommend to print with 100% infill for strength.

The study was designed to experimentally investigate the presence of permethrin and cypermethrin insecticide residue concentrations in serum samples of albino rats. 60 Albino rats were used in this research which were equally divided into three groups, with the first containing Rats placed under no mosquito net as control, the second containing Rats placed under commercially insecticide treated Mosquito net, and the third containing rats placed under experimentally formulated treated insecticide Mosquito net. The presence of the insecticide concentration in Blood serum samples of the Rats were determined after carefully extracting the serum by solvent extraction technique, and analyzing the extracts by Gas Chromatographic method. Permethrin insecticide and cypermethrin insecticide were detected in the serum samples of the albino Rats. ANOVA results of F 2,57 =9.1,P=0.000 indicates significant difference in the concentration level of the insecticide in the three groups of the Rats. The Post hoc test indicates that, those Rats housed under experimentally formulated mosquito net, Mean=0.8,SD=0.02 , and those placed under commercially insecticide treated Mosquito net, Mean=0.5,SD=0.001 , experienced higher level of concentration of insecticide as compared to controls, Mean=0.00,SD=0.00 those in Group A . The Mean ± S.D for permethrin and cypermethrin insecticides were significantly different from that of controls. 0.9±0.011mg L of Permethrin was detected in samples of week two and three of the commercially insecticide treated Mosquito net and 0.32.±0.01mg L in week one of the experimentally formulated treated insecticide Mosquito net, respectively as indicated in Table 1, while cypermethrin has a highest value of 0.1±0.082mg L in week two, six, and seven of the commercially insecticide treated Mosquito net as well as 0.9±0.082mg L in the experimentally formulated treated insecticide Mosquito net respectively. The values recorded for both insecticides used in this work are within the WHO recommended permissible limit of 0.05mg kg 2.0mg kg. Abstract Background: Coverage estimates of insecticide-treated nets (ITNs) are often calculated at the national level, but are intended to be a proxy for coverage among the population at risk of malaria. The analysis uses data for surveyed households, linking survey enumeration areas (clusters) with levels of malaria endemicity and adjusting coverage estimates based on the population at risk. This analysis proposes an approach that is not dependent on being able to identify malaria risk in a location during the survey design (since survey samples are typically selected on the basis of census sampling frames that do not include information on malaria zones), but rather being able to assign risk zones after a survey has already been completed. Methods: The analysis uses data from 20 recent nationally representative Demographic and Health Survey (DHS), Malaria Indicator Surveys (MIS), an AIDS Indicator Survey (AIS), and an Anemia and Malaria Prevalence Survey (AMP). The malaria endemicity classification was assigned from the Malaria Atlas Project (MAP) 2010 interpolated data layers, using the Geographic Positioning System (GPS) location of the survey clusters. This article is from Malaria Journal , volume 10 . Abstract Background: Long-lasting insecticidal nets (LLIN) are now standard for the prevention of malaria. However, only products with recommendation for public use from the World Health Organization should be used and this evaluation includes the assessment of net effectiveness after three years of field use. Results for one of the polyester-based products, Interceptor® is presented. Methods: In five villages, 190 LLIN and 90 nets conventionally treated with the insecticide alpha-cypermethrin at 25 mg/m2 were distributed randomly and used by the families. Following a baseline household survey a net survey was carried out every six months to capture use, washing habits and physical condition of the nets. Randomly selected nets were collected after 6, 12, 24, 36 and 42 months and tested for remaining insecticide content and ability to knock-down and kill malaria transmitting mosquitoes. Results: During the three and a half years of observation only 16 nets were lost to follow-up resulting in an estimated attrition rate of 12% after three and 20/% after 3.5 years. Nets were used regularly and washed on average 1.5 times per year. After three and a half years 29% of the nets were still in good condition while 13% were seriously torn with no difference between the LLIN and control nets. The conventionally treated nets quickly lost insecticide and after 24 months only 7% of the original dose remained (1.6 mg/m2). Baseline median concentration of alpha-cypermethrin for LLIN was 194.5 mg/m2 or 97% of the target dose with between and within net variation of 11% and 4% respectively (relative standard deviation). On the LLIN 73.8 mg/m2 alpha-cypermethrin remained after three years of use and 56.2 mg/m2 after three and a half and 94% and 81% of the LLIN still had > 15 mg/m2 left respectively. Optimal effectiveness in bio-assays (≥95% 60 minute knock-down or ≥ 80% 24 hour mortality) was found in 83% of the sampled LLIN after three and 71% after three and a half years. Conclusions: Under conditions in Western Uganda the tested long-lasting insecticidal net Interceptor® fulfilled the criteria for phase III of WHO evaluations and, based on preliminary criteria of the useful life, this product is estimated to last on average between three and four years.

Since my cat jumped straight through the mosquito net and out of the window 3 stories above ground, I decided to make it more safe for her when we have the windows open. This mosquito net latch should not impede the closing of the windows normally, but I don't know all types of windows / nets so I can't be sure. I posted all the dimensions in the pictures so you can see if it would fit beforehand. Also, as always, I posted the SolidWorks file so anyone could modify the design to their liking. It should fit most of the mosquito nets that aluminum carpenters install and the ones sold from Leroy Merlin. The bearing used as a wheel is a standard 605 (14mm OD 5mm ID) and the original corners where made out of PVC. The Fusion360 file is included in the download section in case you need to change anything or make a Remix. :)

This project is developed for the boat users to find out their border in the sea area. The main modules in this project are RF transducer, microcontroller unit and LCD display.  The Zigbee transmitter is connected at the border area. It transmits RF signals within the particular limit. The Zigbee receiver with the micro controller unit is connected at the boat. When the boat reaches the particular area, the RF signals are received by the receiver and given to the micro controller unit.  The micro controller analyses the signal and calculates the distance and sends corresponding message to the LCD display. If it crosses the limit, the micro controller operates the warning buzzer and it switches off the running motor of the boat. Thus the boat may be automatically off and the boater may easily understand the situation.  The micro controller program is written in embedded c language and the microcontroller used is ARDUINO.  by R.
