This study analyses the effect of a conceptional framework assuming Modern Money Theory (MMT) on public attitude toward government bond issuance. The MMT is a heterodox economic theory, which contends that if a government has monetary sovereignty, nothing but inflation prohibits it from bond issuance (Wray, 2015). Although this theory has attracted public attention in developed countries such as America and Japan, it is still unclear whether and how it affects public attitudes toward government bond issuance. Thus, this study aims to address these questions using a frame experiment.
