Utilizar Microsoft Security Essentials en una instalación limpia de Windows Vista o Windows 7 se a vuelto difícil por el fin de soporte de dichos sistemas, en el caso de Windows 7 habrá que utilizar actualizaciones para volver a acceder a Windows Update (o usar Legacy Update en su defecto) para instalar las actualizaciones específicas que permitirán actualizar las definiciones de MSE a las más recientes.  El caso de Windows Vista es parecido, solo que con él si será obligatorio el uso de Legacy Update para poder acceder a Windows Update. (NOTA: Yo instale TODAS las actualizaciones de seguridad y una que otra opcional, no sé decir cuales son las específicas para MSE) Al momento de instalar las actualizaciones desmarquen la instalación del MSE que nos ofrece WU (esa versión no pude hacerla funcionar). Una vez instaladas dependiendo de la arquitectura de su PC escogeran la versión correspondiente (tanto del paquete de actualización individual como el instalador de MSE), una vez que lo hagan podrán actualizar las definiciones y utilizar el antivirus para su flamante sistema de Windows Vista. (NOTA 2: En algún futuro probaré utilizando otra versión de MSE, posiblemente la que guardé un poco después del fin de soporte de Windows 7 y llegué a utilizar por última vez a finales de 2024. Además probaré el proceso que describo de Windows 7 para ver si sigue disponible a la fecha 5/7/2025 y si no dar una solución)

Microsoft Security Essentials without Windows Update works on Windows 7 I don't know why they make another version that required Windows Update to works but it shouldn't relying on that After installing, you can re-disable windows update or leave it enable
