Adolf Hitler's manifesto 'Mein Kampf,' is coming back to Germany. The Institute for Contemporary History is repringting the book and selling it for about 60 Euros each. But it won't appear in its original form. The institute will annotated the book to expose what they call Hitler's lies, half-truths and vicious tirades. Hitler wrote the book while he was in jail before Nazism hit Germany full-fledge. it's one of the earliest pieces of evidence showing he was rallying against European Jews. For years, Bavaria banned the publication of Mein Kampf, which translates to my struggle, because they owned the copyright. But the license runs out at the end of 20-15, 70 years after Hitler's death. The book will be published in two volumes, running a total of nearly 2 thousand pages.

In 1940 the Germans decided they wanted to have an english language copy of Mein Kampf published for the invasion of Britain during Operation Sea Lion. They used a rough draft translation of Mein Kampf by James Murphy to form 90% of main body and translators in the NSDAP to create a final volume.  Presented here is a photographic copy of the extremely rare  'Operation Sea Lion Edition'. This copy is complete including the index.  Other copies available online are either missing pages 700+701 or have text from another translation in it's place and are missing the index. A valuable resource for antiquarian book collectors and contemporary historians.

Made in 1961, "Mein Kampf" was one of the first documentary films to chronicle the life of Adolf Hitler and his rise to power. This is Part 2 which begins after the fall of France in 1940. German troops are shown at the Arc de Triomphe. Hermann Göring decides to challenge the British. Battle of Britain. Coventry is bombed and it unites the British (:07-1:48). People shovel bombed out area. Winston Churchill rallies the people. He surveys the ruins. Foiled against the R.A.F., Hitler now decides to attack the Soviet Union. German troops and tanks are shown on the move, but Hitler fails to take Moscow. The winter is brutal. Germany loses the war in Africa. Dead troops of the Afrika Korps (1:49-6:13). The Battle of Stalingrad is shown, the largest confrontation of World War II. The Soviets fire barrages of rockets. German troops and Field Marshal Paulus surrender (6:14-7:36) and are forced to march through the streets of Moscow (7:37-9:31). Prisoners are used as slaves by Germany to make weaponry. Heinrich Himmler sets up concentration camps. Victims are forced into railroad cars. Aerial shot of the concentration camps and the "final solution". New arrivals are led out of the train cars. Snowy camp grounds. Dead on the grounds of the camp (9:32-12:34). Zyklon B gas warning sign. Nude women and children being led to the showers in the camps. Crematorium, chamber of horrors. The failed assassination attempt spares hitler. Bombed out room at Hitler's headquarters is shown. Hitler walks slowly inside a hospital. Anyone thought to be a threat to Hitler is put in a kangaroo court and executed. (18:03-22:00). Conspirators are put on trial. Witnesses sit and watch as sentences are passed (22:01-24:21). Hitler remains in power but the German army is now retreating rapidly. Last of the reserves are thrown into the battle. Bombed out bricks. Troops hid amongst the ruins (24:22-26:35). Nazi troops still out in the field, some are very young. People applaud as Goebbels gives a speech (26:36-29:02). A German newsreel in March 1945 shows Hitler looking content or even happy. People salute Hitler. Last pictures taken of Hitler in 1945 talking with young men or children who have been drafted as soldiers (29:03-31:23). Berlin is now under direct attack. Women and children Berliners are subjected to the war. Bombed out buildings. Finally, the Russians enter the ruined city. Hitler puts a period on the end of his miserable sentence by committing suicide in his bunker on April 29, 1945. Germany surrenders. The misery of defeat. Women carry pails, people fight for food. An old man uses a dead horse for food. People fight over any food (31:24-34:15). Nazi leaders on trial at Nuremberg. Rudolf Hess on trial at Nuremburg. Concentration camps are liberated. Dead bodies strewn about at the camps. Evacuating the camps (34:16-36:17). Women and children leave the camps. Bodies of Germans killed by the SS. " Ich bin der Meinung, daß uns eine Betrachtung des weltenbewegenden Lebens Hitlers geradezu das Jahr 1924 als einen der entscheidendsten Wendepunkte vermerken läßt. Nicht nur deshalb, weil Hitler hinter den Gefängnismauern in seinem dort durchaus bürgerlich ausgestatteten Wohn- und Schlafraum sein Buch "Mein Kampf" geschrieben hat, das er seinem Mitgefangenen Rudolf Heß diktierte, und das von diesem auf der Maschine getippt wurde. Dieses Buch sollte sich für Hitler selbst zu einer dauernden peinlichen Belastung entwickeln. Wiederholt sagte er, auch mir, daß solche wirklichkeitsfremde Offenheit für einen Mann des Staates etwas Bedenkliches hätte, aber damals in der Gefangenschaft hätte er sich alles von seiner Seele schreiben müssen, was ihn bewegte. Das Buch ist tatsächlich kein sprachliches Meisterwerk, aber inhaltlich eines der kühnsten und doch nüchternsten Bücher, die seit Machiavelli auf politischem Gebiet erschienen sind. Wenn Hitler sich für sein Leben nur mit der Herausgabe dieses Werkes begnügt hätte, würde es ein literarisches Kuriosum sein. Er versuchte aber, seinen Inhalt in die Tat umzusetzen. Und darin liegt die Tragödie. Durch die Veröffentlichung dieses Buches hat er sich vor aller Welt anscheinend programmatisch bekannt und damit auch ziel- und leistungsmäßig vor ganz Deutschland verpflichtet. Für ihn selbst war das immer wieder lästig. Ich weiß noch, als wir anläßlich der großen Italienreise des Führers im Frühjahr 1938, kurz nach dem Anschluß Österreichs, im Quirinal in Rom in dem dem Führer eingeräumten herrlichen, klein-intimen, prächtig-funkelnden Speisezimmer um den kleinen Tisch saßen, kam Hitler auf vielerlei zu sprechen: Er sagte z. B.: "Ich bin kein Schriftsteller. Welch schönes Italienisch spricht und schreibt Mussolini! Ich kann nicht dasselbe auf Deutsch. Die Gedanken gehen mir durch beim Schreiben. Mein Kampf ist eine Aneinanderreihung von Leitartikeln für den ‚Völkischen Beobachter‘, und ich glaube, selbst dort würde man sie aus sprachlichen Gründen nur ungern annehmen. Inhaltlich möchte ich nichts ändern. Wenn es schon „Phantasien zwischen Gittern" sind, die ich da dem Hess diktiert habe: es gibt auch eine Logik des Traumes. Nur das Kapitel über die Syphilis müßte ich als unrichtig total umändern. Das jedenfalls weiß ich, wenn ich 1924 geahnt hätte, Reichskanzler zu werden, dann hätte ich das Buh nicht geschrieben. Aber ich weiß nicht, ich sah mich immer nur als Parteiführer und höchstens einmal als beratenden „Intimus" eines Reichsoberhauptes!"
