The Lone Star Flight Museum at Ellington Field has a German Me-262 jet fighter on loan from the Collings Foundation. This is a reproduction built according to the original specifications in Ft. Worth, TX, and is correct down to the last detail except for the engines. I presume it also has some modern comm equipment on board. Here it is taxiing away from the hangar on its way to the runway. I wanted to try make some new scale intakes for the Dynam ME-262. With my limited 3d skills, I only just managed to make these. Feel free to modify the files to make them better, but then please share them again :-) The intakes are printed in PLA at 0.2mm layer height, 0.7mm line width, 215c degrees for high strength, 50c bed temp., and at 25mm/s print speed. 0% infill. 1 perimiter shell, 2 top and 2 bottom layers. In simplyfy 3D you need to go to the advanced page and select "Allow single extrusion walls" to print the thin walls...... Otherwise it just messes up. I tried to load the STL' s into cura, and without any special settings, it will not work out..... But I have not looked into how to make it work. Glue all the PLA parts together with medium/thick CA glue, and activator for maximum strength EDIT. I have uploaded my s3d FFF so you can look at it as a template if you need it. Also, a problem has been reported with te rear intake part not being 100% flat causin issues because of te razor thin sharp edges. I suggest that you lower the part donw through the build plate in s3d with the Z offset , to 21.00mm instead of 21.62mm (last picture) . This will thicken the rear part. I can not seem fix this issue without redesigning it......so this is a bandaid :-) V2 Parts. Now hopefully the first layer issue is gone. Parts are now thinned, and weigh 22g instead of 30g. I printed these with 0.20 layer height, 0.6mm line width, 215 degrees, 25mms. 0 or 1 bottom layer, and 0 top layer, 1 perimiter/wall. Info: Dies ist kein "echtes" Luftwaffenlied, sondern eine Eigenkomposition, die den Stil eines Fliegerlieds der 30er und 40er Jahre "kopiert". Es mag sich anhören, als stamme aus jener Zeit, es ist jedoch fiktiv. Während die Me-109 im Jahre 1944 in der Schweiz ihr eigenes Lied bekam, auch völlig zurecht, ging die Me-262, aufgrund des dann nicht mehr lange andauernden Krieges, leer aus. Doch was wäre, wenn man der Me-262 doch noch ein Liedchen gewidmet hätte? Dies ist ein Lied für die Me-262, welches so oder so ähnlich damals hätte gesungen werden können. Das Lied habe ich eigentlich für mich geschrieben, um den Stil alter Soldatenlieder künstlerisch zu reproduzieren.

Die Messerschmitt Me 262 Dokumentation

This is a WW2 German RDF antenna. It is specifically designed to fit the HSD 1890mm Me-262 Radio Control model, but could work for others. For this 1890mm span model the antenna file here should be sized up by a factor of 1.24x for printing. Since that model is 1:6.6 scale, and the antenna needs to be sized up by 1.24x to fit, the native scale of the STL File is about 1:8.2. Note that it has a small curvature to match the curvature of the fuselage, and it also slopes down a little at the back to match the fact that the fuse it tapering toward the empennage. These slopes and curvatures might not be suitable for other planes. Note that there is a great picture of this antenna on the Me-262 of the Deutsches Museum (currently at Oberschleissheim) at 14:06 in this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IrH2duoxsOs&t=846s The little tab on the bottom is to anchor it into the foam. I just pressed it in, then took a knife and cut away the excess foam from the dent. After that it sits flush and can be glued on easily.

The model is a replica of the Messerschmitt Me 262 Schwalbe. The shape of the plane is fairly simple but it might need to be broken into a few smaller pieces to get optimal prints. One thing I noticed is that despite my attempts to prevent this issue, the thinnest part of the rudder is not printable. I will try to fix it in the future. In the meantime the blender file is attached for adjustments and changes (x60 scale for .stl conversion). NOTE: the model is just ornamental and I highly doubt it flies (try at own risk)

The Messerschmitt Me-262 was the first plane with jet-engine to be build in series. It was the fastest plane at the time. My build was done on a desktop cnc-machine by [Stepcraft](https://www.zenziwerken.de/my-cnc) from 6 mm beech plywood using a spiral-toothed 1.2 mm flute. Glued together and nicely sanded it's a great toy for boys (of different age). A laser cutter might be a good alternative tool to create smaller versions. The Messerschmitt Me-262 Schwalbe (Swallow) was the world's first operational jet fighter. Entering service in 1944, it quickly proved itself as a terrifying opponent to meet, with its high speeds and vast array of armaments. Multiple variants were created, including a tank buster with a 50mm cannon on the nose. It was faster and heavier armed than any allied fighter, including the British Gloster Meteor which entered service 3 months after. It became a basis for many future jet projects after the fall of Nazi Germany, and even saw further post-war usage by the Czechoslovak Air Force up until 1951! *** A little bit of experimenting with this kit compared to my previous WW2 kits, with a split wing and connector design to incorporate dihedral wings. There are several sites online that share the hypothetical weapons that would have been fielded by the Germans if the war had lasted past 1946. Some are based on drawings and blueprints confiscated at the end of the war while others were well on their way to production. In the case of the ME-262 it was already in service as the first combat effective jet fighter. No sooner than it was in service than the Germans began to develop mission specific variants. The ME-262 Z variation, affectionately called the "Beowulf" in online circles. Would have been a twin nacelle high altitude interceptor. There is little information available online regarding the concept so I cannot confirm that it went any further than a hypothetical application of a proven concept. My design is the three engine variation (there is a four engine version online as well) with two cockpits, one for the pilot and the one for a weapons officer. I used the ME-262 model at https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2814445 for my base. The model is cut up to make it as printer friendly as I could get it while using the models natural detail to obscure connections.
