1Dirac Operator On Complex Manifolds And Supersymmetric Quantum Mechanics
By E. A. Ivanov and A. V. Smilga
We explore a new simple N=2 SQM model describing the motion over complex manifolds in external gauge fields. The nilpotent supercharge Q of the model can be interpreted as a (twisted) exterior holomorphic derivative, such that the model realizes the twisted Dolbeault complex. The sum Q + \bar Q can be interpreted as the Dirac operator: the standard Dirac operator if the manifold is K\"ahler and a certain "truncated" Dirac operator for a generic complex manifold. Focusing on the K\"ahler case, we give new simple physical proofs of the two mathematical facts: (i) the equivalence of the twisted Dirac and twisted Dolbeault complexes and (ii) the Atiyah-Singer theorem.

2De Rham Cohomology Of SO(n) And Some Related Manifolds By Supersymmetric Quantum Mechanics
By Kazuto Oshima
We study supersymmetric quantum mechanics on RP_{n},SO(n),G_{2} and U(2) to examine Witten's Morse theory concretely. We confirm the simple instanton picture of the de Rham cohomology that has been given in a previous paper. We use a reflection symmetry of each theory to select the true vacuums. The number of selected vacuums agrees with the de Rham cohomology for each of the above manifolds.

3Relativistic Fluid Mechanics, Kahler Manifolds And Supersymmetry
By T. S. Nyawelo, J. W. van Holten and S. Groot Nibbelink
We propose an alternative for the Clebsch decomposition of currents in fluid mechanics, in terms of complex potentials taking values in a Kahler manifold. We reformulate classical relativistic fluid mechanics in terms of these complex potentials and rederive the existence of an infinite set of conserved currents. We perform a canonical analysis to find the explicit form of the algebra of conserved charges. The Kahler-space formulation of the theory has a natural supersymmetric extension in 4-D space-time. It contains a conserved current, but also a number of additional fields complicating the interpretation. Nevertheless, we show that an infinite set of conserved currents emerges in the vacuum sector of the additional fields. This sector can therefore be identified with a regime of supersymmetric fluid mechanics. Explicit expressions for the current and the density are obtained.

4Schrödinger And Related Equations As Hamiltonian Systems, Manifolds Of Second-order Tensors And New Ideas Of Nonlinearity In Quantum Mechanics
By J. J. Sławianowski and V. Kovalchuk
Considered is the Schr\"odinger equation in a finite-dimensional space as an equation of mathematical physics derivable from the variational principle and treatable in terms of the Lagrange-Hamilton formalism. It provides an interesting example of "mechanics" with singular Lagrangians, effectively treatable within the framework of Dirac formalism. We discuss also some modified "Schr\"odinger" equations involving second-order time derivatives and introduce a kind of non-direct, non-perturbative, geometrically-motivated nonlinearity based on making the scalar product a dynamical quantity. There are some reasons to expect that this might be a new way of describing open dynamical systems and explaining some quantum "paradoxes".

5Duality, Quantum Mechanics And (Almost) Complex Manifolds
By J. M. Isidro
The classical mechanics of a finite number of degrees of freedom requires a symplectic structure on phase space C, but it is independent of any complex structure. On the contrary, the quantum theory is intimately linked with the choice of a complex structure on C. When the latter is a complex-analytic manifold admitting just one complex structure, there is a unique quantisation whose classical limit is C. Then the notion of coherence is the same for all observers. However, when C admits two or more nonbiholomorphic complex structures, there is one different quantisation per different complex structure on C. The lack of analyticity in transforming between nonbiholomorphic complex structures can be interpreted as the loss of quantum-mechanical coherence under the corresponding transformation. Observers using one complex structure perceive as coherent the states that other observers, using a different complex structure, do not perceive as such. This is the notion of a quantum-mechanical duality transformation: the relativity of the notion of a quantum.

8Reduction Of Quantum Systems On Riemannian Manifolds With Symmetry And Application To Molecular Mechanics
By Shogo Tanimura and Toshihiro Iwai
This paper deals with a general method for the reduction of quantum systems with symmetry. For a Riemannian manifold M admitting a compact Lie group G as an isometry group, the quotient space Q = M/G is not a smooth manifold in general but stratified into a collection of smooth manifolds of various dimensions. If the action of the compact group G is free, M is made into a principal fiber bundle with structure group G. In this case, reduced quantum systems are set up as quantum systems on the associated vector bundles over Q = M/G. This idea of reduction fails, if the action of G on M is not free. However, the Peter-Weyl theorem works well for reducing quantum systems on M. When applied to the space of wave functions on M, the Peter-Weyl theorem provides the decomposition of the space of wave functions into spaces of equivariant functions on M, which are interpreted as Hilbert spaces for reduced quantum systems on Q. The concept of connection on a principal fiber bundle is generalized to be defined well on the stratified manifold M. Then the reduced Laplacian is well defined as a self-adjoint operator with the boundary conditions on singular sets of lower dimensions. Application to quantum molecular mechanics is also discussed in detail. In fact, the reduction of quantum systems studied in this paper stems from molecular mechanics. If one wishes to consider the molecule which is allowed to lie in a line when it is in motion, the reduction method presented in this paper works well.

9Lagrangian Mechanics And Reduction On Fibered Manifolds
By Songhao Li, Ari Stern and Xiang Tang
This paper develops a generalized formulation of Lagrangian mechanics on fibered manifolds, together with a reduction theory for symmetries corresponding to Lie groupoid actions. As special cases, this theory includes not only Lagrangian reduction (including reduction by stages) for Lie group actions, but also classical Routh reduction, which we show is naturally posed in this fibered setting. Along the way, we also develop some new results for Lagrangian mechanics on Lie algebroids, most notably a new, coordinate-free formulation of the equations of motion. Finally, we extend the foregoing to include fibered and Lie algebroid generalizations of the Hamilton-Pontryagin principle of Yoshimura and Marsden, along with the associated reduction theory.

10Statistical Mechanics Of Graph Models And Their Implications For Emergent Spacetime Manifolds
By Si Chen and Steven S. Plotkin
Inspired by "quantum graphity" models for spacetime, a statistical model of graphs is proposed to explore possible realizations of emergent manifolds. Graphs with given numbers of vertices and edges are considered, governed by a very general Hamiltonian that merely favors graphs with near-constant valency and local rotational symmetry. The ratio of vertices to edges controls the dimensionality of the emergent manifold. The model is simulated numerically in the canonical ensemble for a given vertex to edge ratio, where it is found that the low-energy states are almost triangulations of two-dimensional manifolds. The resulting manifold shows topological "handles" and surface intersections in a higher embedding space, as well as non-trivial fractal dimension consistent with previous spectral analysis, and nonlocal links consistent with models of disordered locality. The transition to an emergent manifold is first order, and thus dependent on microscopic structure. Issues involved in interpreting nearly-fixed valency graphs as Feynman diagrams dual to a triangulated manifold as in matrix models are discussed. Another interesting phenomenon is that the entropy of the graphs are super-extensive, a fact known since Erd\H{o}s, which results in a transition temperature of zero in the limit of infinite system size: infinite manifolds are always disordered. Aside from a finite universe or diverging coupling constraints as possible solutions to this problem, long-range interactions between vertex defects also resolve the problem and restore a nonzero transition temperature, in a manner similar to that in low-dimensional condensed-matter systems.

12Quantum Mechanics On Manifolds And Topological Effects
By G. Morchio and F. Strocchi
A unique classification of the topological effects associated to quantum mechanics on manifolds is obtained on the basis of the invariance under diffeomorphisms and the realization of the Lie-Rinehart relations between the generators of the diffeomorphism group and the algebra of infinitely differentiable functions on the manifold. This leads to a unique ("Lie-Rinehart") C* algebra as observable algebra; its regular representations are shown to be locally Schroedinger and in one to one correspondence with the unitary representations of the fundamental group of the manifold. Therefore, in the absence of spin degrees of freedom and external fields, the first homotopy group of the manifold appears as the only source of topological effects.
