Onslow Civic Affairs Committee Juneteenth Observance, held June 16, 2023 in Council Chambers at City Hall. Stillwater City Council issued a proclamation at its June 7 meeting that encouraged all citizens to celebrate Juneteenth on June 19. Juneteenth observes the end of slavery in the United States. Mayor Will Joyce presented the proclamation to members of Stillwater Community United. Karen Washington spoke on behalf of the group, which is hosting an event to celebrate Juneteenth on June 19 at 11 a.m. at Southern Woods Park.
