Joseph Campbell, David Bowie y el Laberinto…  Durante los años ochenta y en parte quizás por el influjo de la saga de Star Wars, los estudios de maestro Joseph Campbell sobre “el camino del Héroe”, “el bosque oscuro”, y la tradición perenne, recalaron en el cine juvenil y la cultura popular del momento; trasladándose de manera en ocasiones realmente sugestiva a no pocas películas de la época, hoy ya de entrañable recuerdo. Un momento así especialmente interesante para nosotros, respecto de lo que sería la cultura pop de nuestro tiempo y que por desgracia, no parece que vaya a volverse a dar. Siendo entonces que no estará demás ponerlo en valor.  En este caso de mano de nuestro amigo Miguel Salas, que nos analizará con esclarecedor acierto los niveles de significación y enseñanza espiritual, iniciática y tradicional, que puede tener una película en apariencia tan inocente como “Dentro del Laberinto”. Con un David Bowie irrepetible que señor del Laberinto y rey “maligno” del mundo de las Hadas, puede ser también la “lechuza de Atenea” para aquellos que deben superar la prueba del Laberinto. On November 1, 1986,  University of California Berkeley Extension held a day long conference at The Palace of Fine Arts In San Francisco, CA entitled Ritual and Rapture: From Dionysus to The Grateful Dead. Participants included mythologist Joseph Campbell,  Jungian analyst John Weir Perry MD, and Grateful Dead percussionist Mickey Hart. Introduction by Lynne Kaufman, Program Director UC Berkeley Extension.

Michael Toms, the host and executive producer of the nationally syndicated New Dimensions interview series, has been exploring personal, social, and global transformation through his work as an electronic journalist and writer. Over a span of 12 years (1975 to 1987), Toms recorded conversations between the late Joseph C ampbell (author of The Power of Myth) and himself, during which they developed a close friendship. On this recording, on which Campbell brings us in touch with our mythic heritage, he and Toms generate an infectious excitement as they explore the far reaches of meaning and thought. In these stimulating conversations, central questions in humanity's quest for meaning, understanding, and knowledge of the spiritual universe in which we live are explored.
