Chichen Itza  The  Chac-mool  are sculptures particular to pre-Columbian groups first appearing around the 9th century. They depict a human figure lying down in a particular pose. The knees are raised up with the body sitting up and resting on the elbows. Of the hundreds of  chac-mools  found, the figure usually faces 90 degrees to the side.  he Temple of the Warriors in Chichen Itza was built around the year 1200 and it’s one of the most beautiful and well-preserved buildings of this site. Chichen Itza has tens of buildings, but when people think of this site, they always think of  The Castle ,  The Sacred Cenote ,  The Great Ball Court , and of course, the Temple of the Warriors.

Deep in the northern Yucatan jungle lies one of the Northern Hemisphere's oldest solar observatories. At the ruins of an ancient city called Chichen Itza (''the mouth of the well''), a well-preserved collection of buildings and plazas reveals the sophisticated astronomical and architectural knowledge possessed by the Maya more than a thousand years ago. The 75-foot pyramid in the center of the site is the Pyramid of Kulkulkan, the Feathered Serpent God of the Maya. The Maya were obviously careful observers of the apparent change in the location of the Sun in the sky throughout the year; different parts of the pyramid are aligned with different seasonal solar occurrences, including the rising and setting of the Sun on the longest and shortest days of the year (solstices). But the pyramid's special show is reserved for the equinoxes. The Maya positioned and designed the structure of the pyramid so that on the spring and autumn equinoxes, the setting Sun falls precisely on the edges of the pyramid's stepped terraces, casting a series of interlocking, triangular shadows that slither down the pyramid's sacred staircase northern of the pyramid like a giant snake. As the Sun sets, the shadow connects with a stone serpent head at the base of the sacred stairway, and then vanishes until the autumn equinox. In 2005, this brief, fascinating phenomenon will occur on March 20. March 20, 2005, NASA's Sun-Earth Connection Education Forum is celebrating its annual Sun-Earth Day. The ruins of Chichen Itza are only one of many ancient sites across the world with structures that ancient humans built to align with the Sun on the equinoxes or solstices. El vocabulario Pedagógico es una herramienta necesaria para el manejo y uso de palabras en el ámbito educativo, que servirán para su uso cotidiano en las escuelas y en donde los maestros y alumnos atenderán una comunicación más completa del idioma maya Itza’, con la utilización de las palabras que intervienen en el manejo de la información escolar. Este documento fue elaborado con el fin de propiciar una comunicación más integral en idioma maya Itza’, con la implementación de neologismos necesarios en el ambiente escolar, y que tanto docentes como estudiantes se beneficiarán con la implementación de éstas nuevas palabras dentro de la comunicación escolar y en otros ámbitos de la vida cotidiana.

1977 Chichen Itza Guide I visited Chichen Itza with my first wife Susan Shilling Watson and my good friend Edwardo Chavez. Ed worked with me at Orange County Planning Department at the old county courthouse downtown Orlando. The three of us travelled to Cancun, Mexico with Florida Air Travel Association. I rented a VW micro bus for our trip inland from the beach in Cancun to Merida then to the Aztec ruins of Chichen Itza. We spent most of the day exploring the site. We climbed up temple stairs into the inside cavern room to see the Jade Jaguar with jade eyes, went through the coliseum gates into the Ball Court where Aztec warriors played a holy game of get the ball through a stone ring ten feet up a solid stone wall. Just outside the ball field is a sacred burial site for the heads of the ball game winners. Across the way stood a huge pyramid complex, the Temple of Warriors, with a reclining stone figure holding a plate in its lap sitting between two rattlesnake shaped carved columns. Looking behind the  Chacmool statue is a flat stone slab supported by carved stone statuettes making a table upon which Aztec maidens were ritually sacrificed by a priest savagely removing her live beating heart with a stone knife. The sacrifice was then tossed down the steep pyramid steps for the blood thirsty crowd of worshippers below. Well, that’s what I heard anyway it’s a good story

Richard C. Hoagland is an author, former museum space science curator, a former NASA Consultant and science advisor to Walter Cronkite and CBS News. Through the years, Hoagland has been leading an outside scientific team in a critically acclaimed independent analysis of possible intelligently designed artifacts on NASA and other data sets. He returns to Red Ice to tell us about his detainment at Chichen Itza while on a special research trip, measuring changes in the torsion field. In the second hour, he continues with his story and explains what and how he is measuring. He'll also talk about competing groups who are trying to discover the secrets of the Maya complexes. Later, Richard discusses the bigger picture of changes happening in the universe. We talk about the effects of these changes on Earth, which he says will become more intense up until 2016. The energy he is measuring could be altering the physical laws of nature as we know them. La pirámide de Chichén Itzá fue modelada en Sketchup a escala 1/1000 (los m se convierten en mm). Posteriormente en Cura lo escalé al doble para imprimirlo con unas dimensiones finales de aproximadamente 13x13x6 cm. La altura de capa elegida fue 0,173 (3 capas me conformaban un escalón), con más se notarían algo las capas en la textura; pero hay que tener paciencia, a mí me llevó 10 h de impresión. Lo que me costó bastante fue despegarlo en mi placa magnética al tener tanta superficie en la primera capa. El modelado lo realizé desde cero, ví algunos modelos en Thingiverse pero no tenían mucha definición, salvo uno de la pirámide de Tikal, además me apetecía modelarlo desde el principio. Empecé con unos planos del libro de arquitectura "Los mayas" de la editorial Taschen, pero detecté algún error y al final utilicé los planos que encontré en internet del escaneo láser realizado en 2007 por la empresa Cyark (https://www.cyark.org/projects/chichen-itza). En el modelado se ha representado también la plataforma inicial más baja y los 91 escalones reales de cada escalinata (91x4 + escalón común final = 365 días del calendario maya), también se han curvado las uniones de la plataforma con los cilindros oblícuos oportunos y las paredes del templo comienzan con el respectivo talud. Otros detalles como los bajorelieves decidí no incluirlos por la escala de impresión, igualmente las cabezas de serpiente de la escalinata que tiende al norte.

Chichen Itza, circa 1979-1980

Los neologismos fueron creados basados en el libro Criterios para la creación de neologismos en Kaqchikel para configurar su estructura semántica, así mismo, se realizaron préstamos del idioma Yukateko, debido a la familiaridad lingüística. Esto con el fin de practicar el idioma maya en la cotidianidad desde diferentes contextos, como lo son las palabras relacionadas al área de salud así como al área de tecnología, formando así un documento que coadyuve a la revitalización del idioma maya Itza’.

Los neologismos fueron creados basados en el libro Criterios para la creación de neologismos en Kaqchikel para configurar su estructura semántica, así mismo, se realizaron préstamos del idioma Yukateko, debido a la familiaridad lingüística. Esto con el fin de practicar el idioma maya en la cotidianidad desde diferentes contextos, como lo son las palabras relacionadas al área de salud así como al área de tecnología, formando así un documento que coadyuve a la revitalización del idioma maya Itza’.

En la Comunidad Lingüística Maya Itza', desde el año 2002 se realizó la investigación y elaboración del “Vocabulario Maya Itza'-castellano”, en donde se contrató a un investigador y como producto final dejó un documento preliminar que se le han realizado revisiones para mejorarlo y tener la versión final. El vocabulario se elaboró con el alfabeto práctico que fue oficializado el 23 de noviembre de 1987.

The project was completed as part of a class that Richard Wurman taught at the School of Design, North Carolina State University in 1963. 61 students took the class and built the city models. The City, Form and Intent is considered one of the pioneering works of information architecture and design. From Wurman's forward: "The city is man's activities in density. The city is the greatest invention of man, and as it represents the density of man's activities, it represents the birthplace of all other of man's inventions. No invention of man has more molded his life than the city and all other inventions have come to fruition because of this gathering of people and exchange of ideas." In 1974 it was republished in smaller format. A related 1966 work is "Urban Atlas: 20 American Cities" (see our 10195.000). In 2014 Wurman revived the idea of understanding cities by comparing them in a new web based work, "Urban Observatory", http://urbanobservatory.org Images copyright 1963 by Richard Saul Wurman.
