Melinda told her followers that even here in Israel, as a visitor, it is easy to be disconnected from the trauma and hardships that locals are experiencing. In her own words, “Meeting someone who lost a son or a friend or has survived the massacre, and it brings you back down and reminds you what is really going on around us.” We introduced Melinda to several families that have tragically lost family members due to the war and terrorism. Melinda met with the families of victims of the Nova festival, including Chava Zafrani, whose daughter Noy Tiferet was killed along with her fiancé Yuval Rabia and his brother Noam; the Oren family, whose son Aviel was murdered along with his friend and his partner; and Linda Azulay who lost her son as well. They were joined by Moshe Samo, father of Yehonatan Yitzchak, an IDF paratrooper, who fell in Gaza and whose organs were donated organs to 6 different recipients; Thank you, Melinda, making the time to meet with those we support and, at this critical moment, and helping us spread the word!

Son Ki Jong (손기정) was a Korean Olympic athlete and long-distance runner. He became the first Korean to win a medal at the Olympic Games, winning gold in the marathon at the 1936 Berlin Olympics. He was born in the Korean Peninsula, but he was forced to compete as a member of the Japanese delegation because Korea was under Japanese rule at the time. Sohn competed under the Japanese name Kitei Son, as Korea was under Japanese occupation during his career.
