With this study we aim to explore how the desire to be alone is associated with both physical and digital solitude. First, we will explore how the desire to be alone is temporarily associated with physical and digital solitude. Then, we will explore direct and indirect (through physical and digital solitude) associations between the desire to be alone and daily outcomes (sadness, loneliness, relaxation, and satisfaction). In the main models we will explore digital solitude considering the use of smartphones for interacting purposes, in secondary and exploratory models we will explore digital solitude including the use of social media as well as the overall use of smartphones.
