The 2010 Nuclear Posture Review calls upon the Department of Defense to examine alternate basing modes for the nation's land-based leg of the triad. The Nuclear Posture Review presumes that the survivability of mobile ICBMs may eliminate the paradox faced by the President when presented with indications of nuclear attack. Namely, the President must choose to use or lose silo-based ICBMs, resulting in an increased risk of miscalculation in a time-constrained environment. This paper examines the validity of this rationale in two attack scenarios, and concludes that the Nuclear Posture Review does not account for the vulnerability of the President and the nuclear command and control system in the face of a surprise attack. The final section of the paper examines the conditions that must be present in order to favor the fielding of a US mobile ICBM force. The first condition is a change in vulnerability of the SSBN force, causing its survivability to be questioned. The second condition is the emergence of a credible conventional threat to the US silo-based ICBM force. The third condition is a shift in US nuclear strategy from counterforce to countervalue, to include the adoption of a minimum credible deterrence posture. The fourth condition is increased risk of miscalculation in a launch on warning scenario, specifically a false warning event that degrades confidence in the US early warning system. Finally, a collapse of restraints imposed by current arms control agreements could spur an arms race, changing the level of acceptable vulnerability for the land-based leg of the triad.

Rocket: Robot on Wheels is a cool game, but there's a few awful-horrible-no-good sound effects that become really repetitive and grating over time. This lil' patch does the following: - Removes Rocket's "Whoo-hoo!" vocalization during double-jumps. - Removes the awful "swish" sound played when adjusting the camera. - Slightly reduces the volume of the "Get Health" sound effect (shit was loud). All other sound effects are untouched. If you really REALLY hate Rocket's vocalizations, there's also a "Rocket Shuts the FUCK Up" patch included that removes every single one of Rocket's vocalizations, making the little bastard completely mute forever. This approach might be a little heavy-handed, though - It feels a weird to play a platformer with no jump sound. Rocket is a great game, and now it can be enjoyed without those little audio microaggressions. Have a good time! PS: This patch is currently only for the US version of the game. Sorry about that. Soldiers from Task Force Olympia, the Stryker Brigade Combat Team based in Mosul, Iraq, looked at the computer screens located in their vehicles and found where the chopper had crashed. The battle for control of the aircraft and security of the pilots was won by the warrior ethos that lives in the heart of every American Soldier. The ability to find the aircraft, move through enemy-held urban terrain and bring enough firepower to the fight to destroy a numerically superior enemy was facilitated by the Stryker vehicle that the soldiers rode in. In the modern contemporary operating environment that soldiers are expected to fight in, flexibility and responsiveness are paramount to success. The Stryker Brigade Combat Team (SBCT) is ideally organized and equipped to fight across the spectrum of conflict in the current and future operating environments.
