Single line to ground faults are the most prominent faults in the power system. This may damage the generators and transformers in the system ultimately leading to its failure. Introducing a neutral grounding reactor between the neutral and ground in the high voltage system, will reduce the fault current and hence will protect the power system components. . In this work inevitable for power transmission boards such as Tamil Nadu Generation and Distribution Corporation Limited (TANGEDCO) to look for a low-cost communication system with low power usage and to improve supply reliability, to transmit reliable fault information back to the control centre in real time. This work aims to design an automated and effective fault identification and position system for all overhead power transmission network networks using all current fault indicator technologies, machine learning methods, and commercially tested communication technology to easily and reliably pin a transmission system's flawed point parts. This will help to people avoid touching the electrical wire and prevent electrical shocks and current wastage as well. Smart transmission lines have played a decisive role in developing human protection and preventing current wastage. The transmission line is opened and the state of the line is evaluated, and the information goes to electrical board (EB) office. The system monitors the data by sending the alert message to the person responsible for the GPS location, either via SMS or BUZZER, or by displaying the alert message lives. Transmission line distribution is broad and most of them are spread around the geographical environment.

This paper tackled the method for determining the number of Peterson coil which is can compensate with the capacitance because it is important in determining the state of parallel resonance, which in turn control the ground fault current and make the approximate value of the current equal to the current in the sound phases. In this way, we can protect the electrical devices and equipment from being damaged by residual current resulting from the arc due to ground fault, which increases the temperature of conductors which are to a breakdown of insulators and damaging them. Ground fault current equals three times the actual current, and its effect depends on two types of variables which are the first: the number of Peterson coils (which specify the inductance value and compensated) and second: the period time of extinguishing electric are in the ground fault. we obtain, by experimental in the lab where it using the servo motor to control the number of Peterson coils which in turn specify the variable and invariable inductance. We have obtained optimal results for the value of ground-fault current, detect the ground fault and treat it without effect of network load and without power cut off for consumer.

An appropriate fault detection and classification of power system transmission line using discrete wavelet transform and artificial neural networks is performed in this paper. The analysis is carried out by applying discrete wavelet transform for obtained fault phase currents. The work represented in this paper are mainly concentrated on classification of fault and this classification is done based on the obtained energy values after applying discrete wavelet transform by taking this values as an input for the neural network. The proposed system and analysis is carried out in Matlab Simulink.

A school teaches its students how to detect leaks on a packaging line using a VR simulation. The aim of this quasi-experimental within-subject study is to determine the optimal positioning of this simulation in relation to the practical discovery-based practical workshop on the packaging line provided by the school. Specifically, the focus is on the effect of sequence: is it more beneficial to expose students to the simulation before or after the practical workshop on the packaging line?

In order to maintain the quality power supply and reliable  operation of power delivery service to the utilities with  minimum interruption,  it is extremely important that the  transmission line faults need to be detected and located in a  reliable and accurate manner. To meet these requirement an  approach based on discrete wavelet transform using neural  network (NN) is proposed to estimate the fault location of  the three phase transmission line and the results have been  compared with the conventional  method  (measuring the  sequence components of voltage and current). The proposed  approach is based on the measurements of the three phase  fault current signals at one terminal of the transmission line  (at relaying point), created for different fault operating  conditions using MATLAB software. To accomplish the task,  features of these measured signals are extracted in terms of  summation of ninth level detail coefficients using multiresolution analysis (MRA) based on discrete wavelet  transform, selecting daubechies4 (db4) as mother wavelet at  100 kHz sampling frequency. These features are then used as  an input to train and test the feed forward neural network  (FFNN) to provide fault location from the relaying point on  the transmission line. The NN estimates the location of the  fault with a significant reduction in percentage error  compared to the conventional method of fault location for  wide variations  of operating condition. Hence, the use of  multi-resolution analysis (MRA) based on discrete wavelet  transform in combination with NN is quite promising for  fault location estimation of the transmission line.

The importance of supplying undisturbed electricity keep increasing due to modernization and lifestyle. Any disturbance in the power system may lead to discontinuation and degradation in the power quality. Therefore, detecting fault, fault type and fault location is a major issue in power transmission system in order to ensure reliable power delivery system. This paper will compare two prominent methods to estimate the fault location of double circuit transmission line. Those methods are Discrete Wavelet Transform algorithm and Fast Fourier Transform algorithm. Simulations has been carried out in MATLAB/Simulink and a variety of fault has been imposed in order to analyse the capability and accuracy of the fault location detection algorithm. Results obtained portrayed that both algorithms provide good performance in estimating the fault location. However, the maximum percentage error produced by the Discrete Wavelet Transform is only 0.25%, 0.6% lower than maximum error produces by Fast Fourier Transform algorithm. As a conclusion, Discrete Wavelet Transform possesses better capability to estimate fault location as compared to Fast Fourier Transform algorithm.

Compared with commonly used schemes involving dedicated devices or complicated techniques, a convenient approach for breakdown locating based on transmission line (TL) theory offers advantages in the typical constant-gradient TW-accelerating structure. To deliver such an approach, an equivalent TL model has been constructed to equate the TW-accelerating structure based on the fundamental theory of the TL transient response in the time domain. An equivalence relationship between the TW-accelerating structure and the TL model has been established via analytical derivations associated with grid charts and verified by TL circuit simulations. Furthermore, to validate the proposed fault-locating method in practical applications, an elaborate analysis via such a method has been conducted for the recoverable RF-breakdown phenomena observed at an existing prototype of a TW-accelerating-structure-based beam injector constructed at the Huazhong University of Science and Technology. In addition, further considerations and discussion for extending the applications of the proposed method have been given. This breakdown-locating approach involving the transient response in the framework of TL theory can be a conceivable supplement to existing methods, facilitating solution to construction problems at an affordable cost. This paper presents the formal verification of a new protocol for online distributed diagnosis for the SPIDER family of architectures. An instance of the Scalable Processor-Independent Design for Electromagnetic Resilience (SPIDER) architecture consists of a collection of processing elements communicating over a Reliable Optical Bus (ROBUS). The ROBUS is a specialized fault-tolerant device that guarantees Interactive Consistency, Distributed Diagnosis (Group Membership), and Synchronization in the presence of a bounded number of physical faults. Formal verification of the original SPIDER diagnosis protocol provided a detailed understanding that led to the discovery of a significantly more efficient protocol. The original protocol was adapted from the formally verified protocol used in the MAFT architecture. It required O(N) message exchanges per defendant to correctly diagnose failures in a system with N nodes. The new protocol achieves the same diagnostic fidelity, but only requires O(1) exchanges per defendant. This paper presents this new diagnosis protocol and a formal proof of its correctness using PVS.

The author has identified the following significant results. Geologic reconnaissance guided by analysis of ERTS-1 and Apollo-9 satellite imagery and intermediate scale photography from X-15 and U-2 aircraft has confirmed the presence of a major fault zone along the California-Nevada state line, between 35 deg 30 min and 36 deg 30 min north latitude. The name Pahrump Fault Zone has been suggested for this feature after the valley in which it is best exposed. Field reconnaissance has indicated the existence of previously unreported faults cutting bedrock along range fronts, and displacing Tertiary and Quaternary basin sediments. Gravity data support the interpretation of regional structural discontinuity along this zone. Individual fault traces within the Pahrump Fault Zone form generally left-stepping en echelon patterns. These fault patterns, the apparent offset of a Laramide age thrust fault, and possible drag folding along a major fault break suggest a component of right lateral displacement. The trend and postulated movement of the Pahrump Fault Zone are similar to the adjacent Las Vegas Shear Zone and Death Valley-Furnace Creek Faults, which are parts of a regional strike slip system in the southern Basin-Range Province.

One of the classical technique to control the arc is through Peterson Coil (PC), which detects and turns off/reduces the electrical arc making the network safer, increasing its reliability and device's safety. To control the PC, some of the techniques used in this research area are PID, FL, NN etc. This paper presents Adaptive Neural-Fuzzy Inference System (ANFIS) technique to controlling the PC. It gives the best results by detecting the fault, reducing the electrical arc and minimizing the fault current to the rated current in a very short time. Moreover, this research focuses on suppressing fault current by looking at its higher and lower peaks. Also, it calculates the opposing inductance to compensate the capacitance caused. It will save thousands of tons of copper costs. This research was conducted using MATLAB. For the validity of the proposed technique results, PID control technique was used.

This paper is present a novel approach for solving the pending under-reach problem encountered by distance relay protection scheme in the 3rd zones protection coverage for a midpoint STATCOM compensated transmission lines. The propose transmission line model is develop in Matlab for analyzed feature extraction using Discrete Wavelet multiresolution analysis approach. Extracted feature from standard deviation and entropy energy contents of SLG transient faults current at location beyond the integrated STATCOM used for machine learning algorithm model building using WEKA software. The Naïve Bayes classifier model perform best with robustness prediction and detection of faults with quick convergence even with less training data. The outperformance of the proposed classifier has been 100 % for the relay algorithm modification for under-reach problem elimination in 3rd zones protection coverage.
