The purpose of this study was to evaluate the impact of prior knowledge of engineering material by students of metalwork technology education for effective practical work. To achieve this objective, a research question was used to guide the study and a hypothesis was formulated and test at 0.05 level of significance. Survey research design was considered suitable for this study. The study was carried out in Adekunle Ajasin University, Ondo State and Ekiti State University, Ado Ekiti. The population of this study comprised all 55 final year students and 13 lecturers in vocational and Technical Education Department. There was no sample all enter population of 68 was used. The instrument for data collection was a self-structured questionnaire, which contained seventeen items. The result from the analysis of data collected indicated that there was no significance difference between the mean ratings of the group of respondents on impact of prior knowledge of engineering material of lecturers and students in all the seventeen items on knowledge of engineering materials in university. The findings of the study showed that the respondents agreed that the metalwork students need all 17 knowledge of engineering material identified. Based on findings and discussion, conclusions were drawn and recommendations made, as the knowledge of engineering materials should be a one of core course in technical education in university. The learning model developed in this study is a whole series of presentation of teaching material that covers all aspects before being and after learning conducted by lecturers by including teaching materials in the teaching and learning process. The learning model developed is called QI MODELS with the syntax: Goals, Observation, Project, Discussion, Task, Practice, Meaningful, Justification, and Evaluation. Teaching material contains a set of material from the course "Instructional Media Design" that is arranged systematically so that lecturers and students can use it in the learning process in an atmosphere and a comfortable environment for learning. To see the effectiveness of the product an analysis of the learning outcomes of the 26 students taught using the Instructional Media Design textbook developed, and compared with the learning outcomes of students in the class taught with presentation material. Based on the analysis, the average value of basic competencies using instructional materials for Indonesian National Qualification Framework (INQF)-based Instructional Media Design is higher than the average value of students who use presentation materials. Testing the hypothesis used is a different test. From the calculation results obtained tcount = 7.63 while ttable = 2.01. Because tcount = 7.63>ttable = 2.01, it was concluded that there was a significant difference in students' learning achievement using Instructional Media Design textbooks and using presentation material. The effectiveness of the use of Instructional Media Design textbooks is 79.09%.

Data were generated on the effect of various environments on the physical, thermal, and mechanical properties of Thornel 300/Narmco 5208 composites. The laminates were prepared from three-inch wide prepreg tape in accordance with current aerospace specifications. The environments included steady state humidity conditioning for two exposure periods, cyclic humidity conditioning which conductivity, density, steady state thermal exposure, thermo- humidity cycling, intralaminar shear, flex tests, Thornel 300 Graphite/Narmco 5208, graphite/epoxy composites, laminate data, laminate fabrication, moisture weight gain. The mechanical properties investigated included tension, compression, in-plane shear, interlaminar shear and flexural static properties, fatigue, creep and stress-rupture resistances.

A engenharia dos materiais é o ramo da engenharia que trata dos materiais como metais, cerâmicas, polímeros e compósitos, reunindo estudos científicos e aplicações práticas para a obtenção de novos materiais que são fundamentais para o desenvolvimento da sociedade, pois propiciam maior segurança e a qualidade de vida no uso cotidiano de veículos, máquinas e estruturas como edifícios, pontes e viadutos. Porém, não basta criar um novo material, há necessidade de compreender suas propriedades como dureza, resistência ao calor e à corrosão que permitem sua aplicação em diversas áreas da indústria, bem como seu processo de produção. A presente obra “Collection: Applied materials engineering” tem como objetivo a apresentação e a discussão de temas relevantes sobre a aplicação da engenharia de materiais em polímeros descartáveis, manufatura aditiva com aços de baixo carbono de baixa liga, caracterização de filmes de titânio, determinação de coeficientes de fricção em materiais médicos, desfosforação do ferro-gusa, inibidores de corrosão em materiais metálicos, inibidores poliméricos de hidratos de gás, microgeis de acrilamida e amido enxertado como doadores de óxido nítrico e a usinabilidade de ligas refratárias. Portanto, esta obra apresenta grande potencial para contribuir com o entendimento dos temas apresentados, podendo servir como referência valiosa para novas pesquisas e estudos sobre as questões aqui discutidas.
