Let $p\ge 5$ be a prime. We show that the space of weight one Eisenstein series defines an embedding into $\PP^{(p-3)/2}$ of the modular curve $X_1(p)$ for the congruence group $\Gamma_1(p)$ that is scheme-theoretically cut out by explicit quadratic equations.

We discuss a family of multi-term addition formulae for Weierstrass functions on specialized curves of genus one and two with many automorphisms. In the genus one case we find new addition formulae for the equianharmonic and lemniscate cases, and in genus two we find some new addition formulae for a number of curves, including the Burnside curve.

We make a detailed account of sign-normalized rank 1 Drinfeld A-modules, for A the coordinate ring of an elliptic curve over a finite field, in order to provide a parallel theory to the Carlitz module for F_q[t]. Using precise formulas for the shtuka function for A, we obtain a product formula for the fundamental period of the Drinfeld module. Using the shtuka function we find identities for deformations of reciprocal sums and as a result prove special value formulas for Pellarin L-series in terms of an Anderson-Thakur function. We also give a new proof of a log-algebraicity theorem of Anderson.

For primes p congruent to 1 mod 12, we present an explicit relation between the traces of Frobenius on a family of elliptic curves with j-invariant 1728/t and values of a particular 2F1-hypergeometric function over F_p. Additionally, we determine a formula for traces of Hecke operators T_k(p) on spaces of cusp forms of weight k and level 1 in terms of the same traces of Frobenius. This leads to formulas for Ramanujan's tau-function in terms of hypergeometric functions.

In this paper, we construct $p$-adic analogues of the Kronecker double series, which we call the Eisenstein-Kronecker series, as Coleman functions on an elliptic curve with complex multiplication. We then show that the periods of the specialization of the $p$-adic elliptic polylogarithm sheaf to arbitrary non-zero points of the elliptic curve may be expressed using these functions.

Let L(E/Q,s) be the L-function of an elliptic curve E defined over the rational field Q. We examine the vanishing and non-vanishing of the central values L(E,1,\chi) of the twisted L-function as \chi ranges over Dirichlet characters of given order.

Let $X_0^6(1)/W_6$ be the Atkin-Lehner quotient of the Shimura curve $X_0^6(1)$ associated to a maximal order in an indefinite quaternion algebra of discriminant $6$ over $\mathbb Q$. By realizing modular forms on $X_0^6(1)/W_6$ in two ways, one in terms of hypergeometric functions and the other in terms of Borcherds forms, and using Schofer's formula for values of Borcherds forms at CM-points, we obtain special values of certain hypergeometric functions in terms of periods of elliptic curves over $\overline\mathbb Q$ with complex multiplication.

We show how non-vanishing of p-adic L functions controls the dimensions of Selmer varieties associated to the complement of the origin in an elliptic curve with CM. As a corollary, one obtains a \pi_1-proof of the theorem of Siegel for such curves.

Classically, Euler developed the theory of the Riemann zeta - function using as his starting point the exponential and partial fraction forms of cot(z) . In this paper we wish to develop the theory of $L$-functions of elliptic curves starting from the theory of elliptic functions in an analogous manner.

New local and global non-abelian zeta functions for elliptic curves are studied using certain refined Brill-Noether loci in moduli spaces of semi-stable bundles. Examples of these zeta functions and a justification of using only semi-stable bundles are given too. We end this paper with an appendix on the so-called Weierstrass Groups for general curves, which is motivated by a construction of Euler systems from torsion points (of elliptic curves).

We prove that each counting function of the m-simple branched covers with a fixed genus of an elliptic curve is expressed as a polynomial of the Eisenstein series E_2, E_4 and E_6 . The special case m=2 is considered by Dijkgraaf.

In this paper, we consider the mean value of the product of two real valued multiplicative functions with shifted arguments. The functions $F$ and $G$ under consideration are close to two nicely behaved functions $A$ and $B$, such that the average value of $A(n-h)B(n)$ over any arithmetic progression is only dependent on the common difference of the progression. We use this method on the problem of finding mean value of $K(N)$, where $K(N)/\log N$ is the expected number of primes such that a random elliptic curve over rationals has $N$ points when reduced over those primes.
