Spread spectrum communication requires several operational processes. First, the informational signal should be encoded by some pseudorandom code into a broad bandwidth signal (e.g., frequency hopping). The transmitted signal should have the capability of anti-jamming or interference during the transmission. Second, the transmitted signal, which is at high bandwidth, must be decoded at the receiving end to give rise to the low bandwidth informational signal. The decoding process requires a synchronous psuedorandom reference code. Third, the informational signal may or may not be error correction coded and hence requires an appropriate decoding process. In this study the author investigates the utilization of a white-light or incoherence optical correlator for the signal decoding.
