Episode 1 of the podcast Just Sayin' on the Road: On Tour: World Tour - The Hunt for Sal!

Fury of Dracula is a great game, but there are a lot of things to keep track of, so I've designed and printed several items to help stay organized. There are 5 different card decks, 2 for the hunters and 3 for Dracula. None of them have text on the backs and 2 have the exact same pattern on the back, just in different colors. In order to keep it all straight, I designed these card holders with tombstones to let players know which deck is which. With so many decks, table space is at a premium, so I made a second card holder with out tombstone which stacks below the first for the discard pile. They also work reasonably well for storage. Just lay the tombstone on top of the deck and secure both with a rubber band. The bottom tab on the tombstones is a bit wide, so you'll have to file or sand it down a bit. I did this on purpose because I wanted them to fit securely. Of course you can use these for other games if you want. They find the Fantasy Flight green size cards at 57x89mm.

Based on the story of Elisabeth Bathory, the 18th century Countess who indulged herself in an orgy of murder and vampirism before before being walled up in her room by the authorities. The ageing Countess Dracula discovers that the blood of young virgins has a restorative effect on her celebrated beauty. Years later, she becomes engaged to a handsome young Hussar and is forced to repeat vile atrocities with ever-increasing regularity to hold off old age.

Vlad Tepes, or Vlad III (Vlad the Impaler, lived from 1428-1477 and has inspired countless legends. But what is truth about Vlad Dracula? His father, Vlad II, had been a member of the chivalric Order of the Dragon from whence the moniker Dracul originates. Vlad III took on the name Dracula designating him as one who is the son of a member of the Order of the Dragon. This order was organized in order to protect Christian Europe from outside invaders. Specifically, they were oriented towards resisting the incursions of the jihadi, expansionistic Islamic Turks led by Mehmed the Conqueror. This video and audio presentation offers a bit of a revision Vlad and attempts to place him within a broader context of Christian, European, and/or Western military hero leaders who defended the West from Persian and Islamist invasions. Por Andrés Bermea para CINESAURIO ‘ Y llegaron de noche ’ presentada como una serie original de ViX “Inspirada” en hechos reales resulta “ tan original ” que la mayor parte de lo que vemos lejos de ser real, es falso o   sin fundamento o evidencia alguna. La serie fue creada por: Rob Greenberg y Bob Fisher, y desarrollada por Eugenio Derbez quienes seguramente justificándose en “ Licencias dramáticas ” destrozan impunemente a actores de la vida real y lo que es peor, usaron sus nombres verdaderos (o al menos los nombres artísticos con que trabajaban) y se llevan su reputación de por medio y eso NO se vale, no es ético, no es de profesionales. ¡Lástima! Si hubieran cambiado los nombres muy diferente sería esto que escribo. Al inicio de la década de los treinta del siglo pasado, el cine sonoro daba apenas sus primeras voces y los estudios productores de cine se dieron contra la pared cuando las películas habladas en Inglés, resultaban incomprensibles para la mayoría de los cinéfilos fuera de los Estados Unidos. Uno de los primeros recursos para salvar el escollo fue hacer versiones similares a las originales en Inglés en diferentes idiomas para los mercados extranjeros; así en 1930 Universal Pictures (Carl Laemmle) filmó en sus estudios durante el día la versión en Inglés de DRACULA con Bela Lugosi y por las noches la versión en Español en los mismos sets y con un reparto multinacional de actores de habla hispana. Y... ¿En dónde está la bronca? Tengo bien claro y entiendo perfectamente que cuando se narra un hecho histórico hay que adecuarlo al medio para que funcione dramáticamente y sea -sobre todo- atractivo al público. Las “ Licencias dramáticas ” sirven para enriquecer una historia, generar conflicto, acelerar el ritmo, simbolizar una idea, etc. En una ficción inspirada en hechos reales, se entiende que no todo es exacto. Aun así, hay una responsabilidad moral cuando se usan nombres verdaderos . Actor por actor, falsedades por verdades ¡Alerta de Spoilers! Lamentablemente necesarios para evidenciar las mentiras de la serie. Derbez destroza Drácula En DRÁCULA obviamente el protagonista es el mismísimo Conde que da título a la obra y en el caso de la serie ‘ Y llegaron de noche ’ es personificado por el comediante Eugenio Derbez como el actor español Carlos Villarías quién dio vida en la cinta hollywoodense al famoso vampiro en la versión al español. Derbez se ensañó con Villarías y lo hace ver como un hombre y actor caprichudo, falto de profesionalismo, enfermizamente mujeriego, fingido, afectado, presumido, arrogante, jactancioso, patético y sobre todo, de un insufrible y antipático agotador. No hay evidencias ni registros históricos de que Carlos   Villar í as fuera en realidad un hombre de tal naturaleza. Todo eso fue introducido en la serie disque para “ enriquecer ” el perfil del personaje. Y esto dicen las fuentes documentadas: Las biografías oficiales resaltan que Villarías era un profesional serio y dedicado, con formación en Derecho, teatro y ópera, que trabajó intensamente en cine mudo y sonoro en los Estados Unidos y Europa, sin indicios de una vida escandalosa y no existen menciones en entrevistas, crónicas de Hollywood o memorias que asocien su nombre a comportamientos de diva, escándalos amorosos o actitudes jactanciosas o afectadas. El Director George Melford era un profesional dedicado No hay ninguna evidencia de que George Melford -el director de la versión en español de Drácula- haya sido un apostador compulsivo . Las biografías y fuentes confiables, como su página de Wikipedia, no mencionan hábitos de juego problemáticos, apuestas frecuentes, ni deudas debidas al juego. Su trayectoria se describe como dedicada al cine, con una carrera constante que incluye más de 140 películas dirigidas, y trabajó como actor hasta su fallecimiento en 1961. En resumen: no existe registro de que Melford tuviera problemas con el juego o fuera un ludópata como lamentablemente lo presenta la serie. Además, George   Melford sí dirigió total y completamente la versión en español de Drácula (1931); no fue sustituido en ningún momento. Según registros y biografías, la filmación duró 22 noches seguidas bajo su dirección -sin interrupciones- concluyendo el 8 de noviembre de 1930. No, en la filmación real de Drácula (1931) no existió ninguna persona llamada Cecilia Ramírez. Esa figura es creación de la serie de ficción “Y llegaron de noche” , que mezcla personajes históricos con otros inventados para construir su narrativa. No hay evidencia de que fuera “gay” No hay constancia pública de que José Soriano Viosca (o Soriano Viosca) quien hace el papel del Doctor Seward, haya sido homosexual en la realidad. No aparece mencionado en biografías, entrevistas o fuentes fidedignas como alguien que haya vivido públicamente una orientación sexual. Es factible que la serie "Y llegaron de noche" lo retrate así como parte de una construcción dramatúrgica, ya sea para enriquecer su personaje o explorar temáticas LGBT, pero no creo que a ninguno de nosotros en nuestro sano juicio, nos gustaría que a un familiar cercano o querido lo presenten como alguien que NO fue; y no lo digo como un tema de género; lo mismo diría si lo hubieran presentado como un cleptómano o un asesino serial. Él NO era alcohólico No hay tampoco evidencia de que Pablo Álvarez Rubio, quien interpretó a Renfield en la versión en español de Drácula (1931), haya sido alcohólico en la vida real. La documentación disponible sobre él se enfoca exclusivamente en su actuación en la película, y algunas anécdotas que destacan su compromiso al desangrarse realmente en una escena, pero nada menciona problemas con el alcohol, adicciones ni dependencias personales. No existen biografías, entrevistas ni crónicas que sugieran que Álvarez Rubio tuviera relación con el alcohol más allá del consumo habitual (como cualquier persona). ¿Era un perfecto bobo o un imbécil? Barry Norton quien interpreta a Juan Harker , ¿Era un perfecto bobo o un imbécil?... No, no hay evidencia de que Norton fuera realmente un “idiota” en la vida real. Veamos lo que sabemos de él a través de fuentes confiables: Fue un profesional que estuvo Activo entre 1925 y 1956 , participó en más de 90 películas, desde el cine mudo hasta la época moderna. Era considerado un actor natural , serio, dedicado y talentoso en drama y baile de salón. Nada indica comportamientos de torpeza o idiotez al frente o detrás de cámaras. Se destacó por su apariencia “ boyishly handsome ” y por desempeñarse como un intérprete profesional y respetado ( IMDb ). Mi punto de vista Si hubieran construido prácticamente la misma historia con otros nombres, yo la celebraría como una magnífica producción, divertida, cautivadora. El reparto es sensacional, TODOS están magníficos (Destaco a Sofía Niño de Rivera como un descubrimiento para el cine y a la regia Diana Bovio quien además entrega una magnífica interpretación musical). Admiro y respeto a Eugenio Derbez y celebro sus éxitos, pero aquí perdió completamente la brújula y el respeto por sus compañeros actores; además en su papel parece más que un actor, uno de sus antiguos personajes del programa de televisión. Tampoco creo que le gustaría mucho que a su famosa mami la entrañable Actriz Silvia Derbez, le colgaran gratuitamente alguna de esas etiquetas... ¿No será que “su personaje” sea un reflejo de su propio ego?... Y... ¿Habrá pensado que: “Si Al Pacino bailó su tango en PERFUME DE MUJER, ¿Por qué no podría hacerlo él aquí también?... Aunque fuera en una secuencia “pegoste”... Concluyo... En una biografía, docudrama o película “basada en hechos reales”, el público tiende a creer que lo mostrado es cierto . Y menos se vale ofender a quienes ya no pueden defenderse. Las licencias son válidas cuando no traicionan el espíritu ni la dignidad del personaje . Puedes inventar, sí, pero NO para deformar gratuitamente . Pregunta: ¿Por qué si DRÁCULA se filmó en los Estudios Universal, ni en las tomas exteriores o interiores se ve su logo y en cambio sí el de un estudio ficticio?...
