[22] Etaṁ visesato ñatvā appamādamhi paṇḍitā, The wise, understanding this difference in regard to heedfulness, appamāde pamodanti, Ariyānaṁ gocare ratā.  rejoice in heedfulness, delight in the domain of the Noble Ones. [23]Te jhāyino sātatikā, niccaṁ daḷhaparakkamā, Those who meditate all the time, constant and firm in their effort, phusanti dhīrā Nibbānaṁ, yogakkhemaṁ anuttaraṁ.  those wise ones reach Nibbāna, the unsurpassed release from (all) bonds. [24] Uṭṭhānavato satīmato, For he who is active, mindful, sucikammassa nisammakārino, pure in deeds, considerate, saññatassa ca Dhammajīvino, self-controlled, living by Dhamma, appamattassa  yasobhivaḍḍhati.  heedful, fame greatly increases. [25] Uṭṭhānen’ appamādena saṁyamena damena ca, Through activity, heedfulness, through self-control and through restraint, dīpaṁ kayirātha medhāvī yaṁ ogho nābhikīrati.  the sage should make an island that no flood waters can overcome.   [26] Pamādam-anuyuñjanti bālā dummedhino janā, The foolish and stupid people cultivate heedlessness, appamādañ-ca medhāvī dhanaṁ seṭṭhaṁ va rakkhati.  but the sagacious one guards heedfulness just as his greatest wealth. [27] Mā pamādam-anuyuñjetha mā kāmaratisanthavaṁ, Do not cultivate heedlessness, do not be acquainted with delight in sensual pleasure, appamatto hi jhāyanto pappoti vipulaṁ sukhaṁ.  for the heedful one, meditating, (surely) attains great happiness. [28] Pamādaṁ appamādena yadā nudati paṇḍito, When the wise one eliminates heedlessness with his heedfulness, paññāpāsādam-āruyha, asoko sokiniṁ pajaṁ, and mounts the palace of wisdom, griefless, (he looks) on grieving people; pabbataṭṭho va bhummaṭṭhe dhīro bāle avekkhati.  the wise one, like one standing on a mountain, looks down on the fools, who are standing on the plains. [29] Appamatto pamattesu, suttesu bahujāgaro, Heedful amongst the heedless ones, wakeful amongst the ones who sleep, abalassaṁ va sīghasso hitvā, yāti sumedhaso.  like a swift horse who abandons a weak horse, the true sage moves on. [30] Appamādena Maghavā devānaṁ seṭṭhataṁ gato, Through heedfulness Maghavā  attained leadership of the gods, appamādaṁ pasaṁsanti, pamādo garahito sadā.  (the good) praise heedfulness, (but) heedlessness is always blamed. [31]Appamādarato bhikkhu, pamāde bhayadassivā, A monastic who delights in heedfulness, seeing danger in heedlessness, saṁyojanaṁ aṇuṁ-thūlaṁ ḍahaṁ aggīva gacchati.  advances like burning fire against the fetter,  small or large. Sau khi biết rõ điều ấy ở sự không xao lãng, thích thú trong hành xứ của các bậc Thánh, các bậc sáng suốt vui sướng ở sự không xao lãng. [23] 3. Có thiền chứng, kiên trì, thường xuyên có sự nỗ lực vững chãi, sáng trí, các vị ấy đạt đến Niết Bàn, sự an toàn tối thượng đối với các trói buộc. [24] 4. Đối với người có sự tích cực, có niệm, có việc làm trong sạch, có hành động đã được cân nhắc, tự chế ngự, sống đúng pháp, không bị xao lãng, thì danh tiếng được tăng trưởng. [25] 5. Bằng sự tích cực, bằng sự không xao lãng, bằng sự tự chế ngự, và bằng sự rèn luyện, bậc thông minh nên xây dựng hòn đảo mà cơn lũ không tràn ngập được. [26] 6. Những kẻ ngu, trí tồi, chiều theo sự xao lãng, còn vị thông minh gìn giữ sự không xao lãng như là (gìn giữ) tài sản quý nhất. [27] 7. Chớ nên chiều theo sự xao lãng, chớ có (nghĩ đến) sự thân mật, thích thú trong các dục, bởi vì người không xao lãng trong khi tham thiền đạt được sự an lạc bao la. [28] 8. Khi nào bậc sáng suốt xua đi sự xao lãng bằng không xao lãng, (khi ấy) sau khi leo lên tòa lâu đài trí tuệ, không còn sầu muộn, bậc sáng trí nhìn xuống đám người bị sầu muộn, ví như người đứng ở ngọn núi nhìn xuống những kẻ ngu dốt đứng ở mặt đất. [29] 9. Là người không xao lãng giữa những kẻ bị xao lãng, là người có nhiều sự tỉnh thức giữa những kẻ bị ngủ mê, bậc sáng trí từ bỏ (những kẻ ấy) và ra đi, ví như con tuấn mã ra đi bỏ lại con ngựa yếu đuối (ở phía sau). [30] 10. Nhờ sự không xao lãng, đức Trời Đế Thích (Maghavā) đi đến vị trí hàng đầu trong số chư Thiên. (Người người) ngợi ca sự không xao lãng; sự xao lãng luôn luôn bị quở trách. [31] 11. Vị tỳ khưu thích thú ở sự không xao lãng, nhìn thấy nỗi hiểm nguy ở sự xao lãng, ra đi ví như ngọn lửa đang thiêu đốt sự trói buộc nhỏ nhoi và to lớn. [32] 12. Long is the night to the wakeful; long is the league to the weary; long is sa§sàra   1  to the foolish who know not the Sublime Truth. 60. Story      King Pasenadi once came to the Buddha and said that he felt that a particular night was too long. Another person remarked that on the previous day he felt that the league was too long. The Buddha summed up by adding that Sa§sàra is long to those who are ignorant of the Dhamma. 2.
