At the same time, his works are also assigned to the Art Informal movement and show influences of Abstract Expressionism. Pedro Meier is an art nomad - in search of the »Gesamtkunstwerk«. Both in art and in life he is a wanderer between cultures and times. For more than 40 years, Pedro Meier has been commuting as a multimedia artist and writer between his studios in Europe, especially in Berlin, and his jungle studio on the Gulf of Siam in Thailand. This geographical expanse reflects his artistic pendulum movement between Orient and Occident. Pedro Meier's art is characterized by a fascinating synthesis between Zen Buddhism and the occidental Enlightenment. An outstanding feature of Pedro Meier's paintings are their calligraphic components. The abstract forms are reminiscent of both haikus, traditional Japanese poems, and medieval magic spells. The use of hieroglyphs and archaic cave paintings creates a bridge between past and present. Pedro Meier combines these elements into a unique visual language that is both mystical and timeless. Through his travels and explorations he has developed a deep connection to the Songlines, the dream paths of the Australian Aborigines. These songlines and dream paths are spiritual paths that lead through the land and create a connection to the ancestors and to nature. They are associated with songs, stories and works of art and serve as signposts and reminders. The fascination of songlines and dream paths can be found in Pedro Meier's works. Pedro Meier is a painter of Lyrical Abstraction, Informal Painting and Abstract Expressionism. The characteristics of these art movements are clearly visible in his works. Lyrical abstraction is evident in his gestural brushstrokes, intense colors and use of personal emotion and intuition. He borrows spontaneity, abstract forms and experimental techniques from informal painting. And abstract expressionism characterizes his work by emphasizing individual expression and emotional intensity. In the context of art history, Pedro Meier can be compared to well-known artists. The dissertation entails a detailed examination of the adaptive or learning process of a back-propagation net, used for the building of massive parallel neural networks, and based on the level of mathematical induction, stochastic computation, and software simulation. Firstly are the introductory bases of the back-propagation new discussed. Parameters and an adaptive process are then selected, followed by limitations and countermeasures. The results of the examination and software simulation demonstrate the simultaneously occurring work and learning processes do not seem to exert any negative influence on the convergence progress. The more precise and quantitative scalability of the entire process is evaluated in the study's final chapter.

The dissertation opens with a review of the influence of (surface) roughness in various contexts, from the theoretical, such as in simple geometry, and compressor performance statistics. A detailing of the trial construction within a high-speed cascade tunnel is followed by the measurement and transfer of roughness in modern production processes. The second half of the dissertation is devoted entirely to experiments. Firstly, the author investigates the influence of surface roughness on: (1) isotropic profile Mach critical velocity ration distributions; (2) total pressure loss correction values; (3) boundary layer development; (4) turbulence in the boundary layer. Secondly, he undertakes numerical experiments with the Alfa II and the Alpha 3.0 calculation methods.

The overarching aim of the study is to assess how candidates in psychodynamic psychotherapy training in Germany subjectively experience their personal therapy as part of the process of the postgraduate psychotherapy training depending on the different settings and conditions required and/or chosen. The study consists of three parts: 1. In an online survey we investigate how beginners and advanced candidates in either integrated psychoanalytic or psychodynamic training at different stages of the psychotherapy training (baseline and 18 months later) experience their personal therapy and how their experiences might differ between the groups and settings but also how their experiences are associated with self-reported personal aspects. Besides demography, motivational aspects for the chosen postgraduate training, aspects of the setting and the subjective experience in the personal therapy, we measure emotion regulation, attachment, intrapsychic conflicts, personality, mindfulness, self-compassion, interpersonal problems, work involvement and psychological burden with validated questionnaires. A short form of this online survey is repeated after 18 months. 2. In a subsample, qualitative interviews inspired by the micro-phenomenological interview method are used to investigate the subjective meaning of the personal therapy, the experience of the process. The experience and importance of selected significant moments from personal therapy are reflected, e.g. in their meaning and impact on therapeutic work and therapist personality. Using qualitative content analysis and mixed-methods analysis we investigate how their subjective experiences are associated with their reports from the study part 1. 3. In a workshop offered to a subsample of study part 1 we investigate diagnostic and intervention skills in selected therapeutic situations according to the OPD-3, which will be analyzed in relation to reports from study part 1.

In an online survey we investigate how beginners and advanced candidates in either integrated psychoanalytic or psychodynamic training at different stages of the psychotherapy training (baseline and 18 months later) experience their personal therapy and how their experiences might differ between the groups and settings but also how their experiences are associated with self-reported personal aspects. Besides demography, motivational aspects for the chosen postgraduate training, aspects of the setting and the subjective experience in the personal therapy, we measure emotion regulation, attachment, intrapsychic conflicts, personality, mindfulness, self-compassion, interpersonal problems, work involvement and psychological burden with validated questionnaires. In a subsample, qualitative interviews inspired by the micro-phenomenological interview method are used to investigate the subjective meaning of the personal therapy, the experience of the process. The experience and importance of selected significant moments from personal therapy are reflected, e.g. in their meaning and impact on therapeutic work and therapist personality. Using qualitative content analysis and mixed-methods analysis we investigate how their subjective experiences are associated with their reports from the study part 1. 3. In a workshop offered to a subsample of study part 1 we investigate diagnostic and intervention skills in selected therapeutic situations according to the OPD-3, which will be analyzed in relation to reports from study part 1.

Im Jahre 1919 erschien das Buch Ein Landarzt mit der Erzählung gleichen Titels und dreizehn weiteren Prosatexten. Kafka selbst bezeichnete "Ein Landarzt" (die einzelne Erzählung, nicht die Sammlung) als eine der wenigen wirklich gelungenen Erzählungen von ihm. Zweifellos zeichnet sich diese Geschichte auch tatsächlich durch meisterliches dichterisches Können aus. Doch angesichts der zahlreichen anderen hervorragenden Erzählungen offenbart Kafkas Einschätzung von "Ein Landarzt" seinen hohen Anspruch an sich selbst, der im übrigen als Argument für die Ernsthaftigkeit der Anweisung Kafkas an Max Brod angeführt werden kann, wonach Brod nach Kafkas Tod den Großteil des Gesamtwerkes vernichten sollte. Es besteht darin, dass jeder Angeklagte unabhängig von seiner Schuld von einem Apparat in minutiösem Ablauf stundenlang gefoltert und dann getötet wird. Den Apparat beschreibt Kafka als überdimensionalen Parlograph in der Funktionsweise eines Phonographen mit vibrierender Metallplatte und Nadel. This story, about a man who wakes up transformed into a bug and the repercussions it has on his life and the people around him, has intrigued me for many years. The translation is by Ian Johnston, not the translator that is in Gutenberg; I like Johnston's more. What does it mean? [Spoiler possibly]In my mind it is not complicated at all and is most probably an autobiography of how Kafka himself had experienced his early life living with his parents. Kafka describes how he had experienced his parents’ financial and emotional exploitation's of him, to the point of detaching from them and thereby ceasing to be their son (the real metamorphosis). Gregor’s metamorphosis is that of Kafka’s being an obedient son, subserviently paying for his parents’ narcissistic needs with his own life, into being a disobedient one—as if he had become a ‘piece of vermin’. Gregor’s parents possessed a large sum of money in savings, which symbolizes the needlessness of Gregor’s exploitation. In other words, the parents did not love him for who he was, but for his loyal willingness to undergo this exploitation. Reduced to vermin, Gregor can (or will) no longer financially benefit his parents. It is the parents that caused Gregor’s/Kafka’s metamorphosis. The debt Gregor intended to repay his parents symbolizes the emotional debt many adult children continue to feel towards their elderly parents for the love and care they have provided. Sister Grete, at first siding with her brother against their unfriendliest father, eventually switches sides after her brother’s metamorphosis, conveniently seizing first place in the sibling hierarchy, a reference to Kafka’s relationship with one of his siblings. The reason why the book continues to enjoy popularity among large audiences of readers, in my opinion, is because they recognize themselves in Gregor Samsa, which makes it all the more astounding how many ‘expert’ interpretations attempt to distract students of Kafka away from the most likely one. I know that some of our absolute best LibriVox readers have already recorded this marvelous story but this but it has also been on my list of "yearn to record" things for a long time and for my personal and entirely selfish pleasure now is the time to do it before I get any older or another flood hits us.
