Abstract Milk fat synthesis of ruminants can be inhibited by intermediates of ruminal fatty acid biohydrogenation including trans‐10, cis‐12 conjugated linoleic acid (CLA). These biohydrogenation intermediates signal a coordinated downregulation of genes involved in mammary FA synthesis, transport, and esterification. We have previously reported decreased mammary expression of sterol response element‐binding protein 1 (SREBP1), SREBP1‐activating proteins, and thyroid hormone‐responsive spot 14 (S14) in the cow during diet‐induced milk fat depression (MFD), and treatment with trans‐10, cis‐12 CLA. Liver x receptors (LXR) and retinoid x receptors (RXR) regulate lipogenesis and are known to bind polyunsaturated FA and LXR agonist increases lipid synthesis in mammary epithelial cell culture. The current studies investigated if biohydrogenation products of rumen origin inhibit mammary lipogenesis through LXR and/or RXR. Expression of LXRs was not different in lactating compared to nonlactating bovine mammary tissue, and expression of LXRs, RXRα, and selected LXR and RXR target genes was not changed in mammary tissue during diet‐induced or CLA‐induced MFD in the cow. In bovine mammary epithelial cell culture, LXR agonist stimulated lipogenesis and expression of LXRß, ATP‐binding cassette 1 (ABCA1), SREBP1c, and S14, but LXR activation did not overcome CLA inhibition of lipogenesis and downregulation of LXRß, SREBP1c, and S14 expression. Lastly, expression of the LXR‐regulated carbohydrate‐responsive element‐binding protein (ChREBP) was higher in lactating than nonlactating tissue and was decreased during CLA‐induced MFD. We conclude that changes in mammary LXR expression in dairy cows are not involved in MFD and that trans‐10, cis‐12 CLA inhibition of lipogenesis and diet‐induced MFD appears independent of direct LXR signaling.

Abstract This study estimated the fermentation characteristics and nutrient value of corn-lablab bean mixture silages relative to corn silages. The effects of feeding corn-lablab bean mixture silages on nutrient apparent digestibility and milk production of dairy cows in northern China were also investigated. Three ruminally cannulated Holstein cows were used to determine the ruminal digestion kinetics and ruminal nutrient degradability of corn silage and corn-lablab bean mixture silages. Sixty lactating Holstein cows were randomly divided into two groups of 30 cows each. Two diets were formulated with a 59:41 forage: concentrate ratio. Corn silage and corn-lablab bean mixture silages constituted 39.3% of the forage in each diet, with Chinese wildrye hay constituting the remaining 60.7%. Pichwais (large paintings on cloth) were hung behind the main image of a shrine. In the seventeenth century, the cult image of the Vallabhacharya sect, which celebrated the worship of Krishna as Shri Nathji (child king), was installed in Nathdvara, near Udaipur, in Rajasthan. About this time, a small number of wealthy Shri Nathji devotees moved to the Deccan, where this painting was probably commissioned. Its indigo ground and extensive use of gold and silver are typical of Deccan pichwais of the late eighteenth century. The unusual iconography of the image indicates that it was made for the Festival of Cows (Gopashtami), held in the late autumn to celebrate Krishna’s elevation from caretaker of calves to cowherd.

The concept was that it would be an anthology series providing modern rock interpretations of classic biblical stories. While the actual show would not go on to be produced, the demos would be released in an album in 2013 both as physical media and on iTunes/streaming services. It was delisted sometime within the past few years and physical copies are nearly impossible to obtain.

The game itself consists of one big battleground where two teams - the Grey Cows and the Brown Cows - fight each other. Each team must battle each other for victory until the last cow wins. Each team has a number of cows that will fight for the cause. The teams have no advantages or disadvantages and only differ in color, like in chess. The battleground map, other than the two herds, also consist of scattered weapons: a katana sword or a shotgun and various terrain. However, the battleground map also introduced fog of war, where both team players must search the grey areas in order to achieve line of sight. Once they grey area's are explored, it stays that way. The game play is divided into two major modes, movement and combat. Movement consists of moving the cow in accordance with the Movement Points (MUs). While moving, the cow can usually search and explore the battleground to find enemies and weapons, as well as pick up weapons, which is done automatically by moving to the square where the weapon is allocated. A cow picking up a katana (melee) automatically becomes a Ninja Cow in a ninja outfit. A cow picking up a shotgun because a Mean Cow Punk with black shades (ranged). Cows can also move into strategic squares for defence or offence. Combat depends on what weapon the cow wields.
