This project will replicate a recent study on infant-directed singing interventions (Cho & Yurdum et al., 2025, Child Development) by testing whether enhanced intervention materials replicate the benefits of parental singing—such as increased singing frequency, greater use of singing for soothing, and improved infant mood—and also produce broader outcomes, including improved caregiver mood, reduced parenting stress, decreased infant fussiness, and fewer night wakings. A total of 120 parent-infant dyads in New Zealand will be randomly assigned to either the intervention or control group over a four-week intervention period. Outcomes will be assessed via smartphone-based ecological momentary assessments. Findings will inform whether higher-quality singing resources can amplify prior effects and support the scalability of singing interventions for early health promotion.
