In this excercise you are required to uncomment the line 130 (#define MANAGED) and fix the appearing issue with DecisionTree_t::createNode. This issue with Variadic Templates requires understanding of l-value/r-value references, parameter passing/forwarding, moving and perfect forwarding. The problem consists in applying a std::move only to r-value referenced parameters received in createNode. l-value referenced parameters should be left as they are, because moving them would either represent a compilation problem, or worse, taking ownership without the caller knowing it, provoking all sorts of missunderstandings, problems and undefined behaviour on use. The exercise is ready to be used with C++ 17 Standard onward, and these compilers: GCC 10.2.0 Clang 11.0.1

I had made a Giant Jenga game out of 2x3 wood and then got the inspiration to make a giant LRC game. I designed some letter templates and printed them on the 3D printer. And I designed a router bit guide as well. I cut 4x4 lumber to size and then used the router templates to guide the router so that the letters had an engraved look. I have to admit that the guide did not fit the template as tight as I would like and the letters did not come out as good as I would have liked. But they will do. Someone else might be able to tighten up the tolerances a bit. I had to use a piece of tape to hold the template to the wood block.

This paper explores the relationship between C++ templates and partial evaluation. Templates were designed to support generic programming, but unintentionally provided the ability to perform compile-time computations and code generation. These features are completely accidental, and as a result their syntax is awkward. By recasting these features in terms of partial evaluation, a much simpler syntax can be achieved. C++ may be regarded as a two-level language in which types are first-class values. Template instantiation resembles an offline partial evaluator. This paper describes preliminary work toward a single mechanism based on Partial Evaluation which unifies generic programming, compile-time computation and code generation. The language Catat is introduced to illustrate these ideas.

The article deals with a kind of recursive function templates in C++, where the recursion is realized corresponding template parameters to achieve better computational performance. Some specialization of these template functions ends the recursion and can be implemented using optimized hardware dependent or independent routines. The method is applied in addition to the known expression templates technique to solve linear algebra expressions with the help of the BLAS library. The whole implementation produces a new library, which keeps object-oriented benefits and has a higher computational speed represented in the tests.

Embedded software processing requirements for DSP, especially for radar, are expected to exceed 1 x 10 (exp 12) operations per second within five years 3. Therefore, the efficient use of memory at all levels of the hierarchy is essential. These array based computations involve the composition of linear and multi-linear operators. Previous work illustrated how a general array algebra (MoA), and a suitably rich compatible index calculus 3 (Psi-Calculus), could be used to develop software for radar and other DSP applications. This software needs to be tuned to use the levels of memory hierarchies efficiently without the materialization of array valued temporaries 3. Monolithic compiler experiments presented in 4 illustrated how these theories could be mechanized using expression templates in C++. The present work continues these investigations by defining an N-dimensional array class with shape in order to support the mechanization of linear transformations in the Psi-Calculus (Psi -Calculus). We show that this class extends the support for array operations in the Portable Expression Template Engine ?PETE! while offering performance that is competitive with hand coded C. Such extensions are needed to support the dimension lifting which maps arrays to all levels of a memory/processor hierarchy.

Vector operations play an important role in high performance computing and are typically provided by highly optimized libraries that implement the BLAS (Basic Linear Algebra Subprograms) interface. In C++ templates and operator overloading allow the implementation of these vector operations as expression templates which construct custom loops at compile time and providing a more abstract interface. Unfortunately existing expression template libraries lack the performance of fast BLAS(Basic Linear Algebra Subprograms) implementations. This paper presents a new approach - Statically Accelerated Loop Templates (SALT) - to close this performance gap by combining expression templates with an aggressive loop unrolling technique. Benchmarks were conducted using the Intel C++ compiler and GNU Compiler Collection to assess the performance of our library relative to Intel's Math Kernel Library as well as the Eigen template library. The results show that the approach is able to provide optimization comparable to the fastest available BLAS implementations, while retaining the convenience and flexibility of a template library.
