Sony Pictures Imageworks' Parag Havaldar presents an in-depth look at the way in which Imageworks advances its Imagemotion Technology to capture many actors in a large volume, simultaneously along with props. Topics include the creation of Mead Hall scenes which included 21 actors and a new camera system consisting of 260 vicon vision cameras that captured body and face performances simultaneously. This larger volume captured superior data for director Robert Zemeckis and allowed all of the actors to interact with one another. A recent version of the Parallel Virtual Machine (PVM) computer program has been enhanced to enable use of multiple processors in a single node of a Beowulf system (a cluster of personal computers that runs the Linux operating system). A previous version of PVM had been enhanced by addition of a software port, denoted BEOLIN, that enables the incorporation of a Beowulf system into a larger parallel processing system administered by PVM, as though the Beowulf system were a single computer in the larger system. BEOLIN spawns tasks on (that is, automatically assigns tasks to) individual nodes within the cluster. However, BEOLIN does not enable the use of multiple processors in a single node. The present enhancement adds support for a parameter in the PVM command line that enables the user to specify which Internet Protocol host address the code should use in communicating with other Beowulf nodes. This enhancement also provides for the case in which each node in a Beowulf system contains multiple processors. In this case, by making multiple references to a single node, the user can cause the software to spawn multiple tasks on the multiple processors in that node.

Based on the Devuan 'Beowulf' branch, alpha version, for testing  Probably in summer of 2019 the Devuan beowulf branch becomes the new 'stable' (when ready)  Till that time, testing and feedback appreciated, also opinions about what to include or not, choice for Desktop environment etc... would be very welcome.  I chose for Devuan as a base (instead of Debian) because AFAIK the new expected Debian 'stable' (buster) doesn't give the choice anymore to boot without systemd.  Custom repository: 32-bit 64-bit  Login details:  root with password root  puppy with password puppy  Specifications:  Built from scratch by using debootstrap.  Kernel: 4.19.0-1 (change is that the kernel is separate module now, see also post #3)  (EDIT: See post #4 for how to boot with older kernel 3.16 if possibly your hardware is too old for booting v4.19)  Choice of Boot Methods: porteus-boot and live-boot v3 (see for options Here )  Default WM - OpenBox with on top PcmanFM (providing the desktop) and lxpanel.  Option to switch to JWM window-manager  Default File Manager - PcmanFM with option to use rox.  Default Internet Browser - Firefox.  More details here: http://murga-linux.com/puppy/viewtopic.php?t=115124

Robert W. Chambers (1865-1933) studied art in Paris in the late 80's and early 90's, where his work was displayed at the Salon. However, shortly after returning to America, he decided to spend his time in writing. He became popular as the writer of a number of romantic novels, but is now best known as the author of "The King In Yellow". This is a collection of the first half of this work of short stories which have an eerie, other-worldly feel to it; but the stories in the second half are essentially love stories, strongly coloured by the author's life as an artist in France.<br /><br /> Only the first half of the collection of stories is presented here: the earlier stories are all coloured by the background presence of a play, "The King In Yellow" itself, which corrupts those who read it, and opens them to horrible experiences and to visions of a ghastly other world, lit by dark stars and distorted skies. This half of the collection is completed by a few very short pieces and two rather strange and beautiful stories of love and time, loneliness and death. (summary by Peter Yearsley)

In his preface, he says that his dissertation is upon "... the Chinese manner of gardening, which is collected from my own observations in China, from conversations with their Artists, and remarks transmitted to me at different times by travellers."<br><br> "... Their gardeners are not only Botanists, but also Painters and Philosofers...
