This little simulator is supposed to give a little logic to the chaos. According to some people, some life forms seem to behave according to certain rules. This program is so you can observe how these rules can affect a small universe. The little bugs have little numbers (or none which means '0') which are to identify them. The "DNA" of each one is listed below:   LIFE SPAN (SECONDS) SPEED 0- 4  6 1- 6  4 2- 5  5 The rules are: If 0 collides with 0 then create 0 If 2 collides with 1 then create 0 If 1 collides with 1 then create 1 If 0 collides with 2 then create 1 If 2 collides with 2 then create 2 If 1 collides with 0 then create 2 The little rocks with colors are for navigation to food. When they hit one, they will make it another color, turn, and walk away. The purpose of turning it another color is to, hopefully, make paths to food like ants do. To restart the game press the Spacebar, to quit press Esc. To turn the population control on press the Shift key. If you want to smite a critter, just click on it. That's about all.

I quite like to mess about with systems called "Cellular Automata", so I wanted to share a Rust library I have been working on to simulate the Lenia system. And on the way, I also describe the steps it took to get to Lenia, as well as how the Conway's Game of Life, SmoothLife and Lenia cellular automata work in a quick way. I, unfortunately have misled you in the video just a tiny bit... Namely, Already the SmoothLife system of cellular automata technically introduced the "integration step"... indeed, it would be impossible to simulate some of the shown SmoothLife systems without the integration step part. Some would perhaps even say that SmoothLife is more powerful and more general and a more faithful generalization of Conway's Game of Life than Lenia. And, well, if we allow for all of the experimentation and little upgrades that people have made over time to SmoothLife, then it ends up not being dissimilar from Lenia in general indeed. This will most likely not be the last video about Lenia you will see from this channel, for I have some upgrades in mind for the Lenia system myself... ones that should allow Lenia to truly be the most general type of Life-Like system of cellular automata. As well as something that should make it more... "physics-like", shall we say. The switched sequence of the concepts "Simulation" and "Synthesis" in the title of the conference emphasizes some changes within the Alife community. The Alife XII submissions consist of a significantly higher fraction of wet Alife papers than at any earlier Alife conference. The submissions are also congruent with a clearer view in the broader scientific community on how we might create life either from scratch or through top-down design. Significant progress has also been made for life-like robotics systems—for example, through the development of polymorphic robots, where simple self-assembly, self-replication, and complex collective behavior now have been obtained. In general, these proceedings demonstrate more integration between wet, hard, soft, and mixed living systems both within the Alife community and across the broader scientific and technological landscapes. This is in part captured by the definition of emerging living technology which comprises all technological applications of living and life-like processes at all levels. As the Alife community inches closer to an understanding of life as a physical process by constructing living processes, it is also increasingly assessing the technological implications of the ability to engineer systems, whose power is based on the core features of life: robustness, adaptation, self-repair, self-assembly, and self-replication, centralized and distributed intelligence, and evolution. A continuation of the discussion sparked by Tom Barbalet's appearance, delving into the question of whether artificial life forms would revere us as gods, and whether humans might fall in love and have sex with them.

The rise of synthetic biology (constructing artificial living cells, engineering with living biological materials, etc.) and systems biology, with its focus on biological organizations above the gene (e.g., proteomics, metabolomics, etc.), means that topics proper to artificial life are becoming key research areas across science and engineering. Additionally, the kinds of agent-based simulations and complex systems methodologies pioneered within artificial life are growing in importance within a large number of fields (ecology, economics, sociology, transport, etc.). This makes ALIFE XI a potential watershed event at which artificial life has the opportunity to engage with, and offer a stimulating home for, some of the largest and most interesting of modern research questions. In this paper, a general methodology for remaining useful life estimation based an indirect methodology is presented. Gearbox failure data, recorded using a mechanical test bed at the Applied Research Laboratory, Penn State University, is used. The machine remaining useful life estimation method used in this paper is indirect method, in the sense that it predicts first the behavior of some system parameters known to be sensitive to the machine operating status, use those predicted values in order to find the predicted machine status through the fuzzy system definitions, and then estimate the remaining useful life by measuring the time from the present time to the time where the death status was detected. Some machine parameters such as temperature, vibration spectrum and level, and acoustic emission, are used in such analysis. Machine operating regions are divided into normal operation, abnormal operation, and no operation or death. Every parameter limits is defined in each region. Prediction models are used to predict the time trajectory of the machine parameters starting from some history measurements. Those predicted trajectories could be used to determine the machine death status point in time. The remaining time to death can be estimated form such models within some appropriate certainty and error tolerance. Neural networks and fuzzy logic system modeling techniques are used for machine parameter prediction due to their known ability for non- linear system modeling, robustness, generalization, and modeling decision uncertainty.

Our focus has been in two areas: the use of AI knowledge representation techniques for the modeling of complex systems, and the codification of simulation expertise so that it can be used to manage the simulation life cycle. The Knowledge Based Simulation system is an embodiment of this research. It provides a complete Simulation Decision Support Environment for the modeling, validation, simulation and analysis of complex systems. KBS has been applied to a variety of problems including factory and distribution system analysis. By using a frame language to represent domain concepts, such as object structure, and goals, there is a one to one correspondence between the domain and the simulation model 2. Secondly, by using rules to represent object behavior, the specification and modification of the behaviors become easier. Lastly, explanation techniques developed around rule based systems provide the basis for explaining event behaviors. (Life cycle management.) (JHD)

This scoping review aims to map the scientific evidence on the relationship between the use of artificial intelligence technologies and the work-related quality of life of healthcare professionals. While AI adoption in healthcare promises benefits such as task automation and decision-making support, its impact on professionals' well-being remains unclear. The review will follow the Joanna Briggs Institute methodology and PRISMA-ScR guidelines, using a broad search strategy across multiple databases and gray literature. Data will be analyzed descriptively and thematically, considering the type of technology, healthcare setting, and affected quality-of-life domains.
