As a series of tools, it offers opportunities for patients and practitioners; yet, as with any technology, it comes with risks. As with any tool, AI will only be as good as those who create and operate it. Given who we are - and our track record - that ought to give us pause.Understanding, interrogating, and mobilizing new technologies requires care, diligence, and diversity. In scholarly publishing, artificial intelligence chatbots (AICs)—advanced conversational programs—are emerging as generative artificial intelligence (AI) tools that can support the peer review process by automating tasks, such as identifying methodological flaws, verifying references, and improving language clarity. These tools hold potential to enhance efficiency, reduce reviewer workload, and address inconsistencies in peer review quality. However, their integration also raises significant challenges, including concerns about reliability, ethical implications, and transparency in decision-making. Peer review, a critical component of scholarly publishing, is already under strain due to increasing demands on reviewers and longstanding issues such as variability in review quality and potential biases. AICs have been proposed as tools to assist and augment the peer review process, for example, by ensuring clarity, completeness, and logical stringency of content. However, little is known about how peer reviewers perceive their role, utility, and potential impact. This study will conduct an international cross-sectional survey to assess peer reviewers’ attitudes and perceptions towards AICs in the peer review process. The survey aims to explore reviewers’ familiarity with AI, perceived benefits and challenges, ethical concerns, and anticipated future roles for AICs in peer review. Findings will provide insights to guide the development of policies and best practices for the ethical and effective integration of AICs in peer review.

Artificial intelligence improvisation (AI improv) is an innovative form of improvised theatre that involves at least one human actor performing lines provided by an artificial intelligence (AI) chatbot (Lösel et al., 2020). While methods of incorporating chatbots into improvised theatre have been tested and refined for several years, this study aims to investigate whether watching AI improv can change people's impressions of chatbots and AI in general. To assess this, among other scales, we will use the recently developed ATTARI-12 (Stein et al., 2024): A unidimensional measure of general attitudes towards AI. One group of participants (group A) will be presented with a video of an AI improv scene. The effect of this intervention on participants’ impressions of AI (measured pre- and post-intervention) will be compared to the effect of watching a video of a generic improv scene (group B) and the effect of reading an AI-related article (group C). Based on results from a pilot survey, we expect our main intervention to generally have a positive impact on participants' attitudes towards AI, such as increasing their intention to use chatbots if possible.

Especially in critical areas such as medicine, human control and supervision are among the key requirements for trustworthy AI systems. In order for human experts to be able to assess and evaluate AI-generated recommendations and classifications, it must be possible to trace the information on which an AI system arrives at a particular output. Hybrid human-AI teams offer the possibility for better decisions to be made in partnership than by humans or AI systems alone. For this to succeed, AI systems must be designed in such a way that people have a certain amount of trust in them on the one hand, but also critically reflect on the output of these systems on the other. This might also be affected by human's knowledge on AI-models and classification systems. The goal of this experiment is to assess the effect of explanations and the possibility of correction on trust and performance in the context of multi-class classification systems - while considering the covariate of AI-expertise.

This study aims to systematically review the literature on the application of AI in RDM in university libraries.

Human flourishing, the optimal state of well-being, is essential for all. Over the past 20 years, substantial research has been devoted to understanding human flourishing. As the field of artificial intelligence rapidly advances, researchers argue that the existence of sentient AIs is only a matter of time and deliberate intent. Just as flourishing is important for humans, we propose that it should also be considered important for AIs. We are the first to explore the concept of AI flourishing. In this pioneering study, we aim to explore what AI flourishing might entail through a two-part design: In Part 1, we will prompt various state-of-the-art Large Language Models (LLMs) to describe what flourishing means to them as LLMs. Using their qualitative responses, we will conduct a thematic analysis to identify key themes and develop a preliminary AI flourishing framework. In Part 2, we will present the LLMs with the themes identified in Part 1 and ask them to rank the importance of each theme. We will compare this framework with existing human flourishing models to examine how LLMs conceptualize flourishing relative to humans. We will also compare the importance of each flourishing aspect with human priorities in flourishing. Drawing on the findings from both parts, we will discuss how human and AI flourishing overlap (likely reflecting the influence of human data on LLM training) and how they diverge, offering a novel theoretical contribution to the understanding of flourishing beyond the human context.

Pain management in non-communicative end-stage patients represents one of the greatest ethical and clinical challenges within palliative care, due to the multidimensional complexity of pain and the impossibility of resorting to verbal self-reports. Traditional tools, such as behavioral scales, have provided partial solutions, but still face limitations related to subjectivity and the workload of clinical staff. In this context, artificial intelligence (AI) emerges as a promising tool to improve pain assessment in this vulnerable population. Its ability to analyze multimodal patterns in real time-including physiological, behavioral, and neurological signals-offers opportunities for more objective and accurate assessment of suffering. This project aims to map the available scientific evidence on the use of AI technologies in the assessment of pain in non-communicative adult terminally ill patients, in order to identify advances, limitations, ethical implications and opportunities for implementation in palliative clinical settings.

The expected outcomes include an in-depth understanding of how AI/ML models enhance prevention efforts, insights into ethical and privacy considerations, and recommendations for future AI-driven public health strategies. This study will contribute to the growing body of knowledge in digital health interventions and inform policymakers, healthcare professionals, and technology developers on best practice for leveraging AI/ML to curb substance use through social media platforms.

The purpose of this research project, titled "Artificial Intelligence-Powered Robots and Machines in Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation: A Scoping Review," is to explore and compile existing evidence on the integration of artificial intelligence (AI) into robotic and machine-based cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR). This field is relatively under-researched, and there is limited understanding of how AI-powered devices in CPR compare to traditional human-led CPR in terms of effectiveness, patient outcomes, and overall performance. Given the rapidly advancing technology in healthcare, particularly in the domain of AI, it is crucial to assess the current state of evidence to inform future clinical practices and technological innovations in resuscitation protocols. This scoping review will be conducted following the guidelines and standards from the Joanna Briggs Institute (JBI) Manual for Evidence Synthesis, Chapter 11: Scoping Reviews, and will be reported according to PRISMA guidelines for scoping reviews. To ensure a thorough search and selection process, I have collaborated with an expert librarian at the University of Illinois Chicago in Peoria to develop a robust search strategy. The review will include a detailed search across major databases and trial registries to ensure comprehensive coverage of the available literature. Evidence will be screened and extracted using Covidence software, with two independent reviewers ensuring accurate selection and extraction based on predefined criteria. In cases of discrepancies, a third reviewer will be consulted to reach a consensus. The extracted data will be synthesized and presented in tables for easy comparison. The quality of the evidence will be assessed using GRADE software, which will allow us to evaluate the strength of the evidence and categorize it accordingly. Given the nature of the data and the current lack of consensus, we will conduct a narrative synthesis of the findings. This will involve summarizing key results from the included studies and offering a detailed assessment of what the evidence suggests about AI-powered devices in CPR. We aim to highlight both the progress made in this area and the existing gaps in knowledge, with the goal of providing a clearer picture of the potential role these technologies could play in improving CPR practices and patient outcomes in the future. Through this scoping review, we hope to contribute to the understanding of AI in CPR, providing insights into its current applications, challenges, and opportunities for further research. The ultimate objective is to determine the extent to which AI-powered robots and machines can enhance cardiopulmonary resuscitation and whether they can offer comparable or superior outcomes compared to traditional manual CPR.

Given the heterogeneity of recommendations and the accelerating integration of AI into clinical care, a scoping review is needed to collate, categorize, and quantify the competencies that have been proposed for medical students. Unlike narrative reviews, a scoping review provides a transparent and reproducible methodology to ensure comprehensive coverage of the literature, minimize bias, and enable meaningful comparison of findings across sources. By applying constant-comparison coding and prevalence analysis, this review will identify where the literature converges on core AI competencies, where new skills are emerging, and where outlier proposals exist.

Interference on the Global Positioning System (GPS) infrastructure poses a threat to the nation's security and economy as systems become more dependent on the technology. The pervasiveness of GPS interference methods such as jamming and spoofing present multiple opportunities for adversaries to infiltrate and inject false data on systems as diverse as military, banking, shipping, ecommerce, transportation and other critical economic sectors. The study of GPS spoofing detection methods requires innovative and novel schemes to meet the challenge posed. With the increasing processing power of computer systems, artificial intelligence methods have become a prime candidate for application to the detection and reporting of these cyber threats. This thesis studied the application of machine learning and data analytics to identify false data injection attempts on military GPS. The study combined live and simulated GPS message traffic data to train and test machine learning algorithms to identify the threats. Applying both unsupervised and supervised learning methods to the dataset helped advance the study of the GPS spoofing problem and proved to be effective tools to monitor GPS traffic while serving as another layer of security to the GPS infrastructure.

This study examines the impact of artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) on professional roles within the context of financial reporting and auditing practices. Utilizing a quantitative approach, data were collected from 142 accountants in private businesses in Erbil through a structured questionnaire assessing perceptions on efficiency, accuracy, fraud detection, compliance, and professional impact. Statistical analyses, including multiple regression and correlation, were employed to determine the relationships between AI and ML integration and various professional outcomes. Contrary to expectations, the results revealed no significant impact of AI and ML on the perceived efficiency, accuracy, fraud detection capabilities, or compliance within the professional roles of accountants. These findings suggest a disconnect between the theoretical benefits of AI and ML technologies and their practical perceptions among professionals in the field. Recommendations include the need for enhanced training, incremental technology implementation, and improved governance structures to foster effective integration and utilization of AI and ML in financial practices. The study's implications are significant for organizations considering or currently implementing AI and ML technologies, highlighting the importance of addressing both technological and human factors to maximize the potential benefits of these innovations. Future research is encouraged to explore qualitative aspects of technology adoption and to conduct longitudinal studies to assess changes over time as professionals adapt to AI and ML tools. The limitations of the study, such as its geographical focus and cross-sectional design, suggest caution in generalizing the findings and point towards the need for broader, more diverse investigations. This research contributes to the ongoing discourse on the practical challenges of integrating advanced technologies in specialized professional domains, underscoring the need for a balanced approach that

Therefore, several algorithms were evaluated and compared based on real knowledge of a call center of an insurance society. The algorithms considered are: k-nearest neighbours (KNN), support vector machine (SVM), random forests (RF), logistic regression (LR), and Naıve Bayes (NB). The comparison criteria are: correct responses, response time, accuracy, Cohen’s kappa and F1 score using n-gram (1.1) and (2.2). The results obtained show that the SVM (accuracy=70.29%) presents the best results on all the comparison criteria. The comparison between the results of the human agents and the callbot shows an improvement in several levels: the cost savings are greater than 80% on all the tests carried out, the holding time decrease to 0 seconds, and the processing time (almost a third or more). The results obtained sufficiently meet the objectives of this project.

Developments in (AI) or (DLT) are now provoking lively debate in practice and academia. AI uses data to achieve goals that were previously believed to be only possible for humans. In an unsettled context, distributed ledger technology has the potential to establish consensus about information among a group of contributors. Both technologies that are needed in similar and common systems are investigated in this study. As a result, the safe pattern (DLT) or the creation of a federated learning system spread over many nodes. It has the ability to lead technological convergence, which has previously covered the technique for the major revolution in technology (IT). Earlier work summarizes many possible benefits of the convergence of DLT and AI, but only provides a limited theoretical framework to describe future real-world DLT and AI merger instances. The primary goal of this research is to disseminate by maintaining systematic previous works and offering conscientious derivative future research opportunities. This study contributes to overcoming existing constraints in AI and DLT convergence for both technologies.
