Architecture is about creating a place through physical design of buildings situated in space and in time. There is a dominant trend in the literature focusing on the relational aspects of space as well as of time. In that sense, Space and time are only relational attributes and not ontological categories in themselves. This essay argues, in line with Kant, that space and time are a priori notions, fundamental to a holistic understanding of situating buildings in spatio-temporal fields.
