4Islamic Art And The Identity Of The Architecture Fundamental Design

By

The language of Islamic design springs primarily from shorthand, and geometry which plays a central role. The geometry and calligraphy are based on the rule of the underlying laws proportions . The problem of research related to insert Islamic art in fundamental design subject especially the design of architecture. The research aims to analyze some models of Islamic engineering works. It follows that the Islamic design principles are reflected in geometry and used by designers as the most valuable tool of the design process to produce ordered patterns that govern aesthetic in designed spaces and surfaces. The research consisted of two parts Theoretical in which the collection of Islamic decoration and use in architecture. And Practical in which the analysis of its. The research results are design and construction are used not only by mathematician astronomers but also by designers, where the most striking characteristic of Islamic geometrical patterns is the prominence of star and rosette shapes. 14A Lightweight Dynamic Pseudonym Identity Based Authentication And Key Agreement Protocol Without Verification Tables For Multi-server Architecture

By

Traditional password based authentication schemes are mostly considered in single server environments. They are unfitted for the multi-server environments from two aspects. On the one hand, users need to register in each server and to store large sets of data, including identities and passwords. On the other hand, servers are required to store a verification table containing user identities and passwords. Recently, On the base on Sood et al.'s protocol(2011), Li et al. proposed an improved dynamic identity based authentication and key agreement protocol for multi-server architecture(2012). Li et al. claims that the proposed scheme can make up the security weaknesses of Sood et al.'s protocol. Unfortunately, our further research shows that Li et al.'s protocol contains several drawbacks and can not resist some types of known attacks, such as replay attack, Deny-of-Service attack, internal attack, eavesdropping attack, masquerade attack, and so on. In this paper, we further propose a light dynamic pseudonym identity based authentication and key agreement protocol for multi-server architecture. In our scheme, service providing servers don't need to maintain verification tables for users. The proposed protocol provides not only the declared security features in Li et al.'s paper, but also some other security features, such as traceability and identity protection.

My subject today is Europe, from an American point of view. This means I shall draw on recent American sources. My aim is: * to postulate where Europe is today, * to sketch where Europe is heading, * to note the abiding American interest in Europe, and * to point to common challenges. Since we are in a university setting, I want to draw you into the discussion, and to draw out your views.

29Imagining Polynesia: Heritage, Identity Politics And The Evolution Of A New Rapa Nui Architecture

By

Rapa Nui’s prehistoric Polynesian heritage is iconic. From the later twentieth century the island’s economy has been dependent on the tourism its prehistory attracts. However, until recently there has been little link between the modern built environment of Rapa Nui and its prehistoric past. This article tracks how during the late nineteenth and twentieth centuries, the island’s traditional domestic architecture was supplanted first by colonial then early modern Chilean architecture. The remains of this transformation are fast disappearing through contemporary demolition and an associated rejection of the past that the introduced architecture represents. We highlight how contemporary Rapa Nui architecture instead actively references its iconic prehistoric Polynesian past and positions Rapa Nui in a Polynesian context, for the first time detailing this trajectory and identifying how elements of past artistic and architectural traditions have become incorporated into the architecture of the present. Instead of presenting the intervening period as one of loss of traditional identity, this in fact emphasises a subtle continuity of Rapanui (indigenous Rapa Nui islander) identity. The study is relevant to exploring how the interacting demands and expectations of identity politics and heritage tourism (here in a Polynesian context) can impact on contemporary local architecture and the visitor milieu, reflecting modern concepts which promote the preservation of some architectures and cultural attributes over others.

30Cities’ Identity Through Architecture And Arts - Proceedings Of The 1st International Conference On Cities' Identitiy Through Architecture & Arts, Cairo, Egypt, 11–13 May 2017

This book is a combination of innovative research submitted to a conference on Cities’ Identity Through Architecture and Arts (CITAA) whereas scholars from all over the world gather in one venue to discuss cultural, historical, and economic issues of the city. Thus, the book offers a collective and global solution that is applicable on a universal level. The research presented in this book was conducted by authors, or rather participants of the conference from, three different continents of the world and organized by IEREK. It was a distinct opportunity for them to share their thoughts with leading scholars and professionals in the field of Architecture, Arts, and Planning. The research and materials in this book are directed at those who are actively engaged in the decision-making processes and to a heterogeneous audience who has an interest to critically examine all the new literature available in the field. A special word of thanks should be made to the editors of this book and to all the authors and co-authors of the chapters who collectively provided the academic community with unique and increasingly valuable literature.

34Secure Telephone Identity Revisited (STIR) Out-of-Band Architecture And Use Cases

By

The Personal Assertion Token (PASSporT) format defines a token that can be carried by signaling protocols, including SIP, to cryptographically attest the identity of callers. However, not all telephone calls use Internet signaling protocols, and some calls use them for only part of their signaling path, while some cannot reliably deliver SIP header fields end-to-end. This document describes use cases that require the delivery of PASSporT objects outside of the signaling path, and defines architectures and semantics to provide this functionality.

35ART AND ARCHITECTURE AS A SPACE FOR KALASH IDENTITY (A CASE STUDY OF BUMBURET VALLEY IN DISTRICT CHITRAL PAKISTAN)

By

The present study was conducted in Bumburet valley of Kalash, District Chitral, Pakistan. The key technique used for data collection was participant observation in which the researcher lived in the community, observed and documented their cultural patterns as an indicator of their traditional culture which includes religious songs, folklore, dress, art and crafts, as a basis for identity. The basic purpose of the study was to understand the role and significance of arts and architecture as a prime tool for establishing identity for the conventional people of Kalash. The people of Kalash have managed to maintain their identity through their unique arts and crafts. Tradition resists change and most often remains unaltered in a static spatial arrangement. The changes which incorporate in Kalash traditions may find their way through peripheral adjustments. The traditions in art and crafts are scanty to find and the present artifacts does not throw any light on their origin. The art and architecture available signify their unique ways, and tradition which is definitely different from the other ethnic tribes in the shared geographical arrangement. The Kalash ethnic identity has faced several challenges like colonization in the past and modernization and technological advancement and conversion to Islam in the present. The Kalash insist on keeping their self-identity as well as participating in modernity. They have maintained their centuries old traditional culture, despite the fact of current globalization, and modernization.
