All in all, Amber and Ryan were pumped to cross paths on the island of Maui and share their traveling journeys to date. How do each of them deal with airport security? What do they eat in airports? Violence against native and indigenous women in the North American continent is an epidemic, one that deserves way more media that it gets. According the National Inquiry into Murdered and Missing Indigenous Women and Girls, published in Canada in 2019, the murder rate of indigenous women is six times higher than the average rate amongst non-indigenous women. This is a very broad and complex issue that I want to dedicate an entire episode to so I won't be discussing much about the report or other inequalities indiginous women face in this episode. In this episode, I want to discuss one native Canadian women whose life was cruelly taken away and 10 years later, despite police having an audio recording of the man most likely responsible for her murder, she has not yet received justice. This is the first release by Amber Inn, the songs were actually recorded in October of 1994 but not released until 1995 . Genre: Screamo / Emotional Hardcore / Punk Country: USA (CA) Archived Myspace/URL: N/A What this project aims to do  is create an archive for any and every shred of Metal and Alternative style music from between 2001 and 2012 that can be recovered. This time frame was considered to be the "wild west" for metal and alternative bands, with many gaining national fandom just by uploading a single 3 or 4 song demo to the website. We are searching every nook and cranny of the internet to find these pieces of musical art that would otherwise be forever lost to time and the black hole the Internet has become. No song too short, and no artist too obscure. Things we are not archiving:  Anything that belongs to a still active Record Label, or that are still actively for sale in their original un-altered format (via Bandcamp, iTunes, Amazon Music, or any other digital platform). June gives the listeners a first person perspective under water.  Sounds where created with a Moog Model 15 Modular synth, Ableton Live, Monome 64, Aquarian Audio Products H2A-XLR microphone & Marantz PMD661 MKII Handheld SDHC Recorder.  Deep Waters – Darkwater Revival: After Terry Adkins at the Arthur Ross Gallery  By  Flora Ward October 15, 2016 Th e late University of Pennsylvania professor Terry Adkins' legacy as a teacher is at the heart of the current show at the Arthur Ross Gallery, which features the work of 11 young artists who worked with him. – Artblog Editor Resonance–visual, musical, thematic–characterizes  Darkwater Revival: After Terry Adkins,  the current exhibition at the Arthur Ross Gallery. Conceived as an homage to the late revered University of Pennsylvania professor, who  died tragically of a heart attack in 2014 , the show contains work by Adkins as well as eleven young artists who trained with him. Adkins’ absence haunts the exhibition, but his presence is felt in each work.  Our work finds inspiration from the  collective history, memory, and narratives of the communities that have  been marginalized and systematically oppressed. This creative process  manifests itself in the cross-sectional spaces where art intervention,  activism, and community engagement merges. These collaborations speak  on issues of race, class, and the void of power in these communities of  color… “- Ernel Martinez  Ernel Martinez was born in Belize. He was raised in South Central Los Angeles  and Detroit. His introduction to the art world came in the form of graffiti. He studied  art at Pratt Institute and attainted his BFA from the Kutztown University. In 2004,  he received his MFA from the University of Pennsylvania. In 2003, Ernel began  making public art in the city of Philadelphia, as well as working with various non- profits and social services to provide art to disenfranchised youth.   His artistic  practice focuses on creative methods to give urban communities the tools to tell  their stories through art making. He uses their stories as a framework to produce  social practice artwork to engage and build dialogue. His work with Keir Johnston,  Dreamland Deferred: Legacy of Silence  (2013) is on display in the gallery (pictured above). Amber Art performed the powerful piece  Push/Pull: The Weight  in the gallery (detail pictured below) on December 2, 2016, which referenced the race riots and bombings in Tulsa, OK in 1921. The sculpture created by the performance is now on view in the gallery as well.   About Terry, Martinez says, “ Amber Art look to evoke a cultural and social dialog around historical  inequities of the missing black voice, especially in creative institutions, by  focusing on the significant historical sites. Our creative collaborations have  been incredibly influenced  by Terry’s work. Our use of history, research,  mix-media, and collaborations comes directly from my time spent studying  under Terry Adkins here at Penn.”
