Transmitted from the Holy City by a converted Jew. Faithfully translated from the Original Hebrew Copy now in the Possession of the Lady Cuba’s Family in Mesopotamia. To which is added, King Agbarus’s Letter to Our Saviour, and our Saviour’s Answer. Also, His Cures and Miracles. Likewise, Lentulus’s Epistle to the Senate of Rome, containing, A Description of the Person of Jesus Christ.   Broadside printing of three apocryphal texts: Jesus’s so-called ‘Letter from Heaven’, first promulgated in the sixth century; the correspondence between Jesus and ‘Agbarus’ (i.e. King Abgar of Edessa), dating from the third century, and reported in Eusebius, Historia ecclesiastica, i:13: 6-9; and the letter of the non-existent ‘Publius Lentulus, Governor of Judea’, possibly as old as the 11th or 12th century (A. Whealey, Josephus on Jesus. Michelangelo's wonderful Pietà. The Pietà (English: "The Pity"; 1498–1499) is a work of Renaissance sculpture by Michelangelo Buonarroti, housed in St. Peter's Basilica, Vatican City. It is the first of a number of works of the same theme by the artist. The statue was commissioned for the French Cardinal Jean de Bilhères, who was a representative in Rome. This famous work of art depicts the body of Jesus on the lap of his mother Mary after the Crucifixion. The theme is of Northern origin. Michelangelo's interpretation of the Pietà is unprecedented in Italian sculpture. It is an important work as it balances the Renaissance ideals of classical beauty with naturalism.
