The rapid development of internet of things (IoT) technology over the course of recent history has made it possible to connect a large number of smart things and sensors, as well as to establish an environment in which data can be seamlessly exchanged between them. This has led to an increase in the demand for data analysis and storage platforms such as cloud computing and fog computing. One of the application areas for the internet of things that has garnered a lot of interest from the business world, academic institutions, and the government is healthcare. The IoT and fuzzy logic are being used in the medical business to improve patient safety, the overall quality of care, and the overall efficiency of medical operations. The most important healthcare studies that are pertinent to pharmacies have been used as the basis for this research. The purpose of this research is to investigate recent advancements in medical modules, remotes, and detector patterns, as well as current innovations in IoT and fuzzy logic-based health care, and current policies from around the world, with the intention of determining how well they support the long-term growth of IoT and fuzzy logic in healthcare.

The Hearsay II speech understanding system under development at Carnegie-Mellon University is a complex, distributed-logic processing system. Processing in the system is effected by independent, data-directed knowledge source processes which examine and alter values in a global data base representing hypothesized phones, phonemes, syllables, words, and phrases, as well as the hypothetical temporal and logical relationships among them. The question of how to schedule the numerous potential activities of the knowledge sources so as to understand the utterance in minimal time is called the 'focus of attention problem'. Near optimal focusing is especially important in a speech understanding system because of the very large solution space that potentially needs to be searched. Using the concepts of stimulus and response frames of scheduled knowledge source instantiations, competition among alternative responses, goals, and the desirability of a knowledge source instantiation, a general attentional control mechanism is developed. This general focusing mechanism facilitates the experimental evaluation of a variety of specific attentional control policies (such as best-first, bottom-up, and top-down search heuristics) and allows the modular addition of specialized heuristics for the speech understanding task.

The aim of this study is to adjust the total daily insulin dosage for type 2 diabetes patients, who  are already on an insulin treatment regimen, by using a fuzzy-based system. The dose is  adjusted by taking into account three patient-related linguistic factors (PRFs) for 39 patients i.e.  weight, body mass index (BMI), and average daily carbohydrate intake and utilizing this data to  develop rules for a fuzzy-based system in MATLAB. The system was then made to generate an  output which was compared to the prescribed doses of insulin by the patients’ respective  physicians. The fuzzy based system was seen to bring a better regulation to the insulin treatment  regimen for a particular patient as compared to the traditional non-fuzzy based methods which  calculate total daily insulin dose based on each individual factor discretely. According to the  output generated, the reasonable changes that this system suggested may evince better control  on patient blood glucose levels. The usage of this system will allow fewer instances of  hyperglycemic and hypoglycemic events among type 2 diabetes patients and may be further be  translated  to type 1 diabetics.

This protocol was developed in the context of the ERA4Health EU Horizon Europe research and innovation project Young Adults in Health-enhancing Equitable Environments (YAHEE). It details the staged development of a system-based logic model. The logic model can serve and guide researchers and other stakeholders – involved with the YAHEE project and beyond – seeking to shape the food and physical activity environments with the aim to promote healthy eating and physical activity behaviours in young disadvantaged adults. Specifically, such a logic model offers a framework to conceptualise and locate interventions and/or research activities within the broader food and physical activity system. We expect the staged approach to logic modelling to result in five further versions of the logic model. These subsequent versions will be developed based on targeted literature searches, stakeholder engagement and YAHEE evidence and insights. We will clearly label each revised version of the logic model and document which changes are made and what information sources are used. In a publication at the end of the YAHEE project, we will publish the different versions of the logic model, transparently describe their development, illustrate how YAHEE evidence and insights have been integrated and how they have advanced our understanding, and discuss strengths and limitations of staged logic modelling.

Fuzzy logic emerges as a powerful tool for optimizing power flow solutions, particularly in the context of deregulated power systems. By employing fuzzy logic controls, the ideal placement of distribution generators (DGs) can be determined, ensuring the reliability indices are identified through optimal power flow solutions and fuzzy logic controllers to maintain system feasibility. In a deregulated power system, strategic placement of distribution generator units plays a crucial role in minimizing power loss and enhancing overall system performance by mitigating fluctuations. To identify areas of weakness, especially within transmission companies, accessing optimal power flow algorithms becomes essential in a deregulated power system. Both transmission and distribution networks should be appropriately adjusted to alleviate congestion within the respective companies. The aggregator must assess system performance, utilizing data obtained from distribution and transmission companies within the deregulated power system.
