A typical example of a Sutra that's very relevant today is the Mahayana Sutra of Golden Light. Here the trainee Bod­hisat­tva is encouraged to develop a range of cultural and educational skills such as know­ledge of etymology, pub­lic speak­ing and so on. These help him to to speak a contemporary language that people can more readily under­stand, in order to draw them into the orbit of the Dharma, whatever their circumstances.
