Fellow of the Royal Societies of London and Upsal; agent for Dominica. to which are added, directions to voyagers, for bringing over these and other vegetable productions, which would be extremely beneficial to the inhabitants of our West India islands.with figures. London, Printed for the Author: and sold by Edward and Charles Dilly. 1775. Quarto. Four engraved and etched plates.Three-quarter tan calf and marbled boards.Spine height:11 ⅜ inches. Dedicated to the Earl of Sandwich, first lord of the Admiralty, this treatise recommended the introduction of the mangostan and bread-fruit into the West Indian Colonies. In 1787 Lieutenant Bligh was commissioned to carry this project out, during which the famous mutiny occurred on his ship, the Bounty . Arpad Plesch catalogue, page 217; Nissen 589; Pritzel 2668.
