Java is an object- oriented, multi-threaded, secure mobile code system that allows applications to run on all major computing platforms. This thesis examines the design of an EIS using Java Applets that use Inter-Orb Protocol to communicate with CORBA middle- tier server objects. The third tier will incorporate Java Database Connectivity to communicate with database management systems.
