2Warren, Monastery, Giant’s Cairn And Nordic Myths—Cultural Memory Writing In The Buried Giant
Japanese British author Kazuo Ishiguro’s The Buried Giant tells the story of an elderly British couple’s journey of finding their son and reminiscing. He writes the unfinished story between the Britons and Saxons in the post-Arthur era in a fantastical way, focusing on the grand propositions of history, memory and human survival. This article innovatively applies the Assmann couple’s cultural memory theory to analyze the memory writing in The Buried Giant from the dimensions of media, power, and function of cultural memory. The warren, monastery and giant’s cairn in the text are not only the carriers of individual, national and state memories, but also the necessary conditions for the buried stored memories to be awakened under the fog of amnesia. And the Nordic myths, as the cohesive structure in their cultural memory, play a crucial role in reconstructing their own cultural identity. As a result of which, this paper first analyzes the positive role that cultural memory plays in reconstructing identity and healing trauma for individuals, collectives, and nations under the shadow of the Holocaust. Secondly, it explores the writer’s intention to contemplate the survival status of all humanity, comprehend the meaning of life, and call for peace in the context of globalization. Thirdly, it reveals the theme of “facing historical trauma, rejecting negative forgetting, inheriting cultural memory, achieving identity reconstruction, and pursuing harmonious coexistence”.

3Memory Writing And Identity Construction In Abdulrazak Gurnah’s Admiring Silence
Abdulrazak Gurnah is an Afro-British diaspora writer who won the Nobel Prize for Literature in 2021. His works, which center on issues like identity, racial tensions, and historical writing, mostly depict the living conditions of colonial peoples, refugees, and immigrants. Admiring Silence is a novel written by Gurnah in 1996. It tells the story of a Zanzibar refugee who, after 20 years of diaspora in Britain, is able to return home, but then has to choose to return to Britain immediately. This article takes spatial migration and diaspora under post-colonialism as the background for studying refugees and applies cultural memory theory and identity theory to analyze the memory and identity construction issues in Admiring Silence. Finally, it attempts to explain the reasons for the memory and identity dilemma of diaspora groups from the perspectives of colonialism and racism in the suzerain country, as well as the failed acculturation of diaspora refugees themselves.

6ERIC EJ1157160: Working Memory And Behavioural Problems In Relation To Malay Writing Of Primary School Children
By ERIC
Deficit in working memory is common among young children across multiple abilities. Teachers have pointed to poor memory as one contributing factor to inattentiveness and short attention spans as well as some behavioural problems among students. This study aimed to explore the relationship among working memory, externalizing and internalizing behavioural problems and Malay language (writing). A total of 469 children (aged 8 and 11 year-old) and 17 school teachers were involved in the current study. It was found that working memory, externalizing behavioural problems and internalizing behavioural problems played critical roles in affecting the scores of Malay language (writing) at school. Specifically, there were five predictor variables being found in the regression model namely verbal short-term memory, inattention, somatic complaints, visuospatial working memory and aggression. As a whole, the correlation for the fivefactor model yielded a great result of 0.987.

7Functionalized Graphitic Carbon Nitride For Metal-free, Flexible And Rewritable Nonvolatile Memory Device Via Direct Laser-Writing.
By Zhao, Fei, Cheng, Huhu, Hu, Yue, Song, Long, Zhang, Zhipan, Jiang, Lan and Qu, Liangti
This article is from Scientific Reports , volume 4 . Abstract Graphitic carbon nitride nanosheet (g-C3N4-NS) has layered structure similar with graphene nanosheet and presents unusual physicochemical properties due to the s-triazine fragments. But their electronic and electrochemical applications are limited by the relatively poor conductivity. The current work provides the first example that atomically thick g-C3N4-NSs are the ideal candidate as the active insulator layer with tunable conductivity for achieving the high performance memory devices with electrical bistability. Unlike in conventional memory diodes, the g-C3N4-NSs based devices combined with graphene layer electrodes are flexible, metal-free and low cost. The functionalized g-C3N4-NSs exhibit desirable dispersibility and dielectricity which support the all-solution fabrication and high performance of the memory diodes. Moreover, the flexible memory diodes are conveniently fabricated through the fast laser writing process on graphene oxide/g-C3N4-NSs/graphene oxide thin film. The obtained devices not only have the nonvolatile electrical bistability with great retention and endurance, but also show the rewritable memory effect with a reliable ON/OFF ratio of up to 105, which is the highest among all the metal-free flexible memory diodes reported so far, and even higher than those of metal-containing devices.

11ERIC EJ1139350: Writing Tasks And Immediate Auditory Memory In Peruvian Schoolchildren
By ERIC
The purpose of the study is to determine the relationship between a group of writing tasks and the immediate auditory memory, as well as to establish differences according to sex and level of study. Two hundred and three schoolchildren of fifth and sixth grade of elementary education from Lima (Peru) participated; they were selected by a non-probabilistic sample. The Immediate Auditory Memory Test and the Battery for Evaluation of Writing Processes (known in Spanish as PROESC) were used. Central tendency measures were used for descriptive analysis. We employed the Mann-Whitney U test, Spearman Rho test and probability of superiority as effect-size measurement for the inferential analysis. The results indicated a moderate direct and significant correlation between writing tasks and immediate auditory memory in a general way and low correlations between dimensions. Finally, it showed that the differences in immediate auditory memory and writing tasks according to sex and level of study does not have practical significance.

16The Memory Of Horror In The Filmic Body And The Writing Of The Event
In this article, we seek to demonstrate how horror movies can be part of writing a political and historical event. Our reflection takes up the question that appears in Barthes in a text called The Writing of the Event, which contains an analysis of May 1968 in France. We looked at two horror movies that contain memories of October 2005 and reflected on "who are we and what we do today?”. Our goal is to contribute to the diagnosis of the present.

20ERIC ED376948: Special Video Showcase: Reading In Kindergarten: Memory To Decoding; Writing In Kindergarten: Skill And Process; Science In Kindergarten: A Sense Of Wonder; Kindergarten Mathematics: Hands-On Learning: Play In Kindergarten: A Process For Learning.
By ERIC
This document describes the development and content of five videocassettes used to depict diverse approaches to kindergarten education to preservice and current teachers and teacher educators. Developed under a faculty development grant from the University of South Dakota, the tapes range between 15 and 25 minutes in duration. The first tape, "Reading in Kindergarten: Memory to Decoding," shows a variety of techniques such as phonics, song charts, taped and text stories, illustrations, and labeled objects intended to guide children from memorizing words to reading them. The second, "Writing in Kindergarten: Skills and Process," differentiates between handwriting and creative writing, noting the developmental stages of both. The next video, "Science in Kindergarten: A Sense of Wonder," emphasizes the use of the environment. Children conduct and participate in experiments and are thus exposed to the scientific method. Some of the themes explored are Plants, Animals, Seasons, and Senses. "Kindergarten Mathematics: Hands-on Learning," depicts the use of class objects and events to learn number sense, measurement, categorization, addition, and subtraction among several other concepts. The final video, "Play in Kindergarten: A Process for Learning," affirms that play is a developmental process that helps to achieve learning and social skills. It shows how play can be integrated into reading, writing, mathematics, science, art, and computer use. The emphasis is on creative and constructive play rather than goal-directed or product-focused play. (BC)

29The Effect Of Drawing And Writing On Memory For Conceptual Knowledge And Item Recall
By Jeffrey Saunders and Tsz Yu Wong
This study examines the impact of note-taking modalities, drawing vs writing, on memory retention for conceptual and factual content. Previous research has found that drawing is more effective than writing for improving memory for factual content (Wammes et al., 2016), which has been called the drawing effect. No previous studies have tested for a drawing effect on memory for conceptual content. This study will test drawing and writing conditions in a within-subjects experiment, and memory retention will be assessed using both free recall and multiple-choice conceptual questions.

For one instructor, her work in autobiography began with an interest in understanding how her past has influenced her present work of teaching. Autobiography is an interpretive act and both a reunion and a release from the past. While there is commitment to truth in writing an autobiographical text, the autobiographer necessarily engages in the creative endeavor of constructing a story, involving both memory and invention. Specific details are literal truths that help in remembering, and scenes can be written in order to contrast feelings and experiences. Memory and imagination work hand in hand to forge an interpretive connection between past and present that has a more compelling claim to accuracy than mere fact. In pursuing the complicated truth, the autobiographer works with elements of craft that engage writers across a range of genres: the ability to select telling details, develop a sense of place, frame a moment in a scene, and construct a design or order out of those moments. These elements allow both the reader and the writer to occupy the world of the writer's life and the world of the text. (CR)

36Subgraph Domatic Problem And Writing Capacity Of Memory Devises With Restricted State Transitions
By Tadashi Wadayama, Taizuke Izumi and Hirotaka Ono
A code design problem for memory devises with restricted state transitions is formulated as a combinatorial optimization problem that is called a subgraph domatic partition (subDP) problem. If any neighbor set of a given state transition graph contains all the colors, then the coloring is said to be valid. The goal of a subDP problem is to find a valid coloring with the largest number of colors for a subgraph of a given directed graph. The number of colors in an optimal valid coloring gives the writing capacity of a given state transition graph. The subDP problems are computationally hard; it is proved to be NP-complete in this paper. One of our main contributions in this paper is to show the asymptotic behavior of the writing capacity $C(G)$ for sequences of dense bidirectional graphs, that is given by C(G)=Omega(n/ln n) where n is the number of nodes. A probabilistic method called Lovasz local lemma (LLL) plays an essential role to derive the asymptotic expression.

E vocês não vão me apagar.”

42Traumatic Possessions : The Body And Memory In African American Women's Writing And Performance
By Griffiths, Jennifer L., 1968-
Enquanto eles escalam, ele documenta. Enquanto eles ocultam falhas, ele arquiva provas. Enquanto eles blindam patentes, ele blinda verdades. A cápsula: ética embutida, não programada “The tool represents part of a larger, accelerating movement in the tech industry: the global shift toward autonomous coding agents — systems capable of writing, reasoning, and deploying code with minimal human intervention. 1Romance of Modern Chemistry
By James C. Philip
A fascinating look back at the state of the art of chemistry 100 years ago, this book by James C. Philip, PhD, an assistant professor of chemistry at The Imperial College of Science and Technology, Kensington, provides a "description in non-technical language of the diverse and wonderful way which chemical forces are at work, and their manifold application in modern life" in 1910. Professor Philip relates many of the key chemical discoveries of early academic researchers in the context of the practical uses to which these discoveries were applied in the early 20th century. (summary by J. M. Smallheer)
